GRIGNON, Joan Janette Winnifred Heathcote - It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Grignon announces her death on October 27, 2018 in her 90th year.

She was the much beloved wife of the late René Henri Grignon and loving mother of her three sons: Guy and Nancy of Colorado, Thomas and Eduardo of North Carolina, and Rex and Patti of California; grandchildren Grace, Erika, Jake and Jon and great granddaughter Jordan.

Joan was a graduate of U of T.

Our mom was the glue that kept us all connected: friends, family and community. She never hesitated to pick up the phone and reach out. Strong and compassionate with a lively wit, she loved summers at the lake with her beloved René, welcoming guests, sharing stories, and caring for Turds, our family turtle.

And for those of you who managed a cottage visit, you'll remember that you couldn't escape without signing the guestbook!

Always generous with her time helping others, she was a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society for more than 50 years. Her radiant smile and enthusiasm for life touched all who knew her.

Friends will be received at the Accettone Funeral Home, Ajax on Thursday, November 1, from 6 - 9 p.m., and Friday, November 22 from 10 a.m. - noon, followed by a short service and reception, then graveside gathering.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

When you remember our mother, we ask that you not grieve her passing but rather (in her words) ''extend to someone an act of kindness, compassion, and love.''
