ALEXANDER, (Alex) Newton Alexander  – Passed away at the Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa on October 31 at the age of 78.

Devoted husband to Jacqueline (nee Hall).

The most wonderful Dad to Doug (Karen), Dave (Heidi) and Daryl (Pamela), loving Grandpa of Brandon (Alyssa), Brent (Shawna) and Joshua and recently introduced to his great grandchildren Jayde and Aubrielle.

Close adoring brother to Belle Eyman (Rudy) and very special uncle to Cheryl, Catherine, Jamie, Susan and Marie.

Alex was a General Motors retiree with 40 years of service. He had three main passions in his life.

First and foremost was his family. He would do absolutely anything for his family. There are no words do describe his eagerness to help and comfort those in his immediate and extended family.

His second passion was hockey. He loved the game. He played himself until he was 63 years old. He coached and taught his children and grand children to skate and play. “The pond”, which he created and maintained, brought many years of enjoyment for his children, grandchildren and their friends to also learn to love the game of hockey. Aside from a short stint each summer, there was rarely a day passed when he wasn’t involved with, or watching hockey.

His third passion was helping people. This wasn’t a conscious decision. This was just who he was. He would help out anyone he could, any way that he could. Family, friends, and even strangers – it didn’t matter. He touched many lives with his kindness.

Alex, you have a left a huge hole in the hearts of all who knew you. Although it will take time, we know it will be filled with memories of the love and special times that you gave to us. You will be missed dearly.

At Alex’s request there will be no service.

If desired, donations in his memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation https://www.heartandstroke.ca/get-involved/donate.
