CALLAN, John (Jackie) Joseph   - Passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on Monday, May 6, 2019.

He was born on August 1, 1939 in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland.

In his youth, Jackie played soccer, but his main sport was boxing.

His adventurous spirit took him to London, England, he served in both the British and Irish Army.

He immigrated to Canada in 1966 followed by his wife Elizabeth (Lily) Callan in 1967.

They enjoyed over 59 years of marriage and were devoted to raising their four children, Jacqueline, John, Sandra and David. He spent his working years as a Butcher and Manager. Jackie lived his life to the fullest and the only thing he loved more than his family was the outdoors, gardening and daily walks with his dogs. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart and was affectionately known as "Papa". 

Jackie will be loved and remembered by his children Jacqueline (Phil), Sandra (Darren), John (Marie), David (Erin), along with his grandchildren, Mary, Patrick, Michael, Shaelyn, Amanda, Ryan and Michael.

Siblings Mary Bailey (Jim), Tommy Callan (Rosie), Paddy Callan (Maureen), Kevin Callan, Gerry Clancy (Mary), Richard Callan (Geraldine), Margaret Smylie.

Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation at Accettone Funeral Home, Ajax on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. A memorial service will take place om Friday May 10, 2019 at 1pm in the Funeral Home chapel.
