Vanderzwet HeatherVANDERZWET, Heather Jean (nee Cooling)  - February 1, 1954 - May 26, 2019. 

Sadly,  Heather passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 26, 2019.

She had lived with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) for three years with Dignity, Grace and Humour.

Mourning her loss is her beloved Husband Harry who supported and loved her through her journey with ALS. 

Predeceased by her mother Marion Cooling, her father Royce Cooling, her grandparents Scott and Mable Cooling and grandparents McCormack. 

She is survived by her brother Kevin Cooling, her step mother Ethel, Brother-in-law Brian Vanderzwet (Adrienne), John Vanderzwet (Kelly), DougLay (Marion deceased), Rick Spicer (Susan deceased) (Marilyn), Sister-in-lawColleen (Trevor).  Loving aunt to her God-daughter Rita Vanderzwet (Mike), Gina Jones (Derek), Katie and Rebecca Vanderzwet, her nephews Chris Lay(Kim), Adam Lay, Gerry Spicer (Marina). 

She will be remembered by manyaunts and uncles, cousins and friends. 

She will be especially missed by heraunt Betty who she often visited in New Brunswick and travelled with her.Heather was all about family. 

You could always count on her to be at anyfamily functions whether near or far.   She was generous to a fault withfamily and friends.  She nursed at what is now known as Whitby Shores untilher retirement and will be missed by her colleagues.  Her other love wasdogs and horses.

For many years she and Harry travelled across the United States and Canada to field trials with the dogs and horses.   She and Harryalso showed dogs and won Dog of the year for North America with Stormcrow inDixeland.  Sassy, Heather's canine friend will miss his Mom. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 2nd at 2:30 pm at DESTEFANO FUNERAL HOME, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport) 905-440-3595. 

Donations will be greatfully accepted to Sunnybrook ALS Research in Heather's name or a CHARITY of your choice.
