SCHLECHTER,  Frank   -   (General Motors Employee for 30 plus years)   

Peacefully with his family by his side at Northumberland Hills Hospital on Thursday December 22nd, 2022, at the age of 88.  

Beloved husband of the late Hilda for 63 wonderful years. 

Loving father of Denise (Dan) Legros, Sandra (Ken) King, Cindy (Troy) Carlson and Angela (Andrew) Finn.  

Beloved Grandpa of Melissa, Melanie, Alexandra, Samantha, and Calvin.  

Great Grandpa of Nevaeh, Kilian and Letty. Loving Brother-in-law of Wilfred (Pat), Irene and Bernice. Predeceased by his parents Karl and Margaret, Anton and Theresa, daughter Linda, sisters Betty (Tony), Margaret, Brothers Leonard (Eva), Joe (Doreen), Charlie (Maxine), Rynold and Bill (Irene).

Brother-in-law Of Ed (Loretta), John and Betty. Frank will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Frank was a longtime member of St. Philips and Holy Cross Parish, and an active Knights of Columbus member.  Frank was an honoured recipient of the Queen’s award for Voluntary Service, for his numerous years of service in Knights of Columbus TV Bingo, Meals On Wheels, St. Vincent de Paul, Big Brothers.

A proud 150-time blood donator.  He will be remembered for his active involvement in baseball until age 75.

After retirement, he could be found back in Saskatchewan on the farm during harvest season.

A special thank you to the staff and residents of Harmony Hill for their support and friendship to Frank and Hilda. Also, thank you to the Staff of Northumberland Hills Hospital Emergency and 2A.

Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa, on Tuesday December 27th, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Parish, Oshawa on Wednesday December 28th at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Whitby.

If desired, memorial donations to a CHARITY of choice would be appreciated.
