Peacefully after a lengthy illness at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry on February 12, 2023, at the age of 68.
Beloved father of Samantha MacDonald and her husband Kurt, and loving Papa of Stacey.
Cherished husband of Alison for 22 years. Loving brother of Patricia Ovenell. Loving stepfather of Justine Khechim and Charlotte Abou-Heif. Dear father-in-law of Yassine Khechim.
Dear son-in-law of Patricia and the late Ian Fraser. Loving Poppy of Essia and Kais Khechim.
Loving brother-in-law of Pamela and Scott Valentine, Margot and Rich Withey, and Jill Fraser and Richard O’Brien. Dear uncle of Andrew (Sara) and Peter Valentine, Erica, Richard and Thomas Withey, and Madeleine and Alexander O’Brien. Great-uncle of Lucy and Samantha Valentine, and Mateo, Paloma and Emilio Valentine.
Remembered fondly by longtime friends John and Diane Waling and family. The family extends sincere appreciation to the wonderful nursing staff on C5 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, as well as the incredible caregivers at Oak Ridges Hospice who treated Phil with dignity, kindness and compassion.
A memorial service will be held at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Oak Ridges Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
