SCRYMGEOUR, Sarah Anne  -

September 6, 1988 - March 9, 2023

With a heavy heart and great sorrow, the Russell and Scrymgeour families announce the passing of our kind, beautiful, graceful and courageous Sarah Scrymgeour; a beloved daughter, sister, wife and daughter-in-law.

Sarah passed away on March 9th, 2023, after a 9 year battle with cancer, with her family by her side.

Sarah was born on September 6th, 1988 in Toronto, Ontario. Barbara and Thomas Russell raised a beautiful daughter, who later became a wonderful big sister to Laura.

At the young age of 17, Sarah met her one and only love, John.

Sarah and John married on June 24th, 2017 and went on to adopt a loving rescue dog, Ally. They lived a beautiful, full life and John stood steadfast by her side through her courageous fight.

Sarah cherished spending time with Mother, Father, Sister and her in laws, Carol, James, Taylor, Artiom and Kyle. Sarah was an extremely talented artist. With her talents, Sarah earned an Undergraduate Degree in Fine Arts from York University, and later completed her Concurrent Education degree at UOIT.

Sarah moved on to teach various ages and subjects and enjoyed every moment she shared with her students and colleagues at the Toronto Montessori School. Sarah’s 34 years were full of happiness and love.

Spending time with her late grandparents Beatrice and Robert Russell, and Elizabeth Hawco we’re some of her fondest memories. Family gatherings with the Hawco, Russell, and Scrymgeour families were also cherished moments for Sarah.

Sarah will be fiercely missed by her family and friends, but they will never forget the courage and strength demonstrated by Sarah. Her beauty, strength and positivity was a gift to be around.

A heartfelt thank you to Sarah’s team at Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre, St. Michaels Hospital and VHA Homecare Services for their compassionate and respectful care given to Sarah.

Arrangements with Mountlawn Funeral Home .
