It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our loving mother Petronella (Nellie) Jawny on April 28, 2023, just weeks shy of her 96th birthday.

Nellie was born May 13, 1927 in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands to Johannes and Adrianna Vanderzwet. Loving mother of Sophie (James) Lindsay and Mary (Ken) Noakes.

Proud grandmother to Holly (Dennis) Noakes, Alison Lindsay (Brian Davis), Natalie Ibbitson (Rocky Rehel) and Kevin (Nella) Noakes.

Great grandmother Oma to Logan, Addison, Porter, Lennon, Gracie Mae, Carter and Emma.

Predeceased by her son Johnny (1955) and her loving husband Harold Strutt (1993). Loving sister of Gerard Vanderzwet (deceased), Helen and John Vandermeer (both deceased), John and Anne Vanderzwet (both deceased), Wilma (deceased) and John Kryger, Cathy and Carl Slierings (both deceased), Nancy Mazzochi (Philip, deceased), Sophia (deceased) and John Hroncich and Frank and Lynda Vanderzwet.

Loved aunt of many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed many hobbies, sewing, knitting, euchre, bingo and puzzling. She also enjoyed great fun vacations to Florida with Harold and her sisters.

The casino was a must with her sister Helen at all hours anytime.

Visitation will be held at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice (905-432-8484) on Wednesday, May 3rd, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, May 4th at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow.
