Green KatherineGREEN, Katherine Ann Green  -

SEPTEMBER 10, 1947 – JUNE 19, 2023

Over her beautiful and complete 75-year life, Katherine “Kathy” Green was known by all for her limitless empathy.

She had boundless enthusiasm, always saw the best in people, and filled every day with acts of kindness small and large.

Kathy passed away on June 19, 2023 after developing a rare and incurable disease.

Kathy was the first-born daughter to Dr. John & Frances Maroosis in Oshawa. She was very close her whole life with her younger sisters Francie Maroosis and Anne Morison.

Kathy shared a dynamic 32-year marriage with the love of her life, Norm Green. Norm brought her a son Drew, whom she held as her own. They had two more children, John & Katie.

Kathy was an extraordinary teacher. For over 35 years she shared her passion for education with thousands of students & teachers across the Durham Region, and later in her career, across Germany and Italy as well.

Kathy enjoyed especially close relationships with her children-in-law, Andrea Dayco, Malgosia Green, and David Michaud, and her brothers-in-law, Charlie Morison and Ron Green.

When grandchildren Liam, Aidan, Radek, Mira, Bella and Charles came along, they became the major focus of Kathy’s life.

She’d travel across the country to be with them and couldn’t have been a more proud and engaged “New Grandma” / Yiayia.

Kathy was a lifelong member of Oshawa’s Knox Presbyterian Church. She was ordained as an Elder 22 years ago, and cherished the opportunity to serve her congregation in this role.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 23rd 2023, from 4-7pm at COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (1587 Durham Regional Hwy 2, Courtice).

The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, June 24th, 2023, at Knox Presbyterian Church (147 Simcoe St N, Oshawa).

In remembrance of Kathy, please consider making a donation alongside her family to Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, who provided her with the most tender end of life care.
