SCHRYER, Sonja (née van Bergen) Schryer  -  It is with great sorrow that we announce that Sonja passed away in the arms of her loved ones on July 7th, 2023 at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry.

She is mourned and remembered with love by husband Greg, daughters Renée and Anneke, siblings (Annette, Elisabeth (Brendan), and John), siblings in law (Kelly and Marcia (Derek)), loving mother Martine, and parents-in-law Joy and Edmond.

She is predeceased by brother Sandy (1979), father Alexander (2018), and nephew Nicholas (2018).

She is also remembered by her many nephews and nieces (Alex, Erin, Matthew, Lily Kay, Matt, Morgan, Taylor, and Reed), cousins, and extended family and friends which she held close to her heart. She fought fiercely and courageously against cancer for two and a half years, and we are forever grateful to have had this time with her in our lives.

So many fond memories of Sonja are held in our hearts, from her sharp mind to her care for all who crossed her path. She was the epitome of an excellent and beautiful mother, wife, daughter, and sister.

She had a strong, unwavering faith and shared it with those in her life frequently.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bowmanville (127 Liberty St S, Bowmanville, ON) on Friday, July 14th at 11:00 AM, burial at Bowmanville Cemetery to follow, friends and family are invited to a reception in the church hall after the cemetery.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
