WWII Veteran S/Sgt RCOC  Alf passed away peacefully surrounded by many of his immediate family at his bedside.

Born in Oshawa on August 6, 1921 to parents Edith (Stone) and Edward Brisebois.

Predeceased by brothers Edward, Kenneth and Jack, sister Irene (Eadie) Thompson and grandson Billie.

Alf met his future wife Nancy while both were serving in the army during WWII.

She was a corporal in the C.W.A.C., and he was a N.C.O. in the Canadian Ordinance Corps.

They were blessed with 3 children Karen (Bill), Billy and Tom, 6 grandchildren Dylan, Mathew, Katy, Adam, Noah, Sara and 5 great grandchildren Zoe, Renee, Daphne, Tia and Avery.

He was beloved Uncle Alf to many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a caring brother-in-law to Barb. Sadly, Nancy passed away on June 23rd, 2018 at age 94.

In his younger years, Alf was very active in the community having served as Chairman of the Oshawa Board of Parks Management, Chairman of the Oshawa Senior Citizens Housing Committee and a longtime member of the Board of Oshawa Hostel Services.

He was a Founding Member of the Oshawa Legion Minor Baseball Association and served on the Board of Governor for the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame.

“Alfies Lounge” a room in Branch 43 was named in his honour in 2019. Alf also served as District “F” Commander and Ontario Command Poppy Chairman.

He enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Blue Jays. In his younger days he curled, played snooker and horseshoes winning several championships along the way. A special thanks to all the health care providers at Lakeridge Oshawa Hospital who provided exceptional care and compassion in his final days.

Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Wednesday August 30 from 9:30 a.m. until time of memorial service in the chapel at 10:30 a.m.
