NEBLETT, Wilma Marlene Neblett  -

June 12, 1938 - August 17, 2023

(Retired Registered Nurse of 31 years at Ajax-Pickering Hospital)  Wilma (nee Phillips) passed away peacefully at home on Thursday August 17, 2023 at the age of 85, with her family by her side.

Beloved wife of Lybron for 61 years. Loving mother of Beverley (Peter), and Todd (Suzanne).

Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Skylar, Jayden, Madison, Ashlyn and Carson.

Dear sister of St. Elmo (predeceased), Marvin (predeceased), Theo (predeceased), Arlette, Louiston, Evelyn Jr. (predeceased), Sheena, Irwin, Pam and Glendall. She will be loved and missed by all — her life and memories forever celebrated by her extended family and friends.

Wilma trained as a midwife and nurse in England. After immigrating to Canada, she worked as a registered nurse, and assistant head nurse of labour and delivery at what was then known as Ajax-Pickering Hospital. One of her biggest career accomplishments was spearheading the Maternal Newborn department.

Wilma was greatly admired and respected by her colleagues and those who knew her well. She will be missed by all. However, her life and memories will forever be celebrated by those who loved her.

A heartfelt thank you to Kianda Mauch NP, Erica Payne RN, Renooka Misir RN, Ursula, Bebe, Christina, Chenelle, and Faith for their care, compassion and support.

In honouring Wilma’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wilma to the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region would be appreciated.
