JULY 14, 1943 – SEPTEMBER 10, 2023

Very suddenly on Sunday September 10th, 2023, Dan passed away at home.

He is survived by his loving wife Gail (nee Maitland), two sons James (Jim), Daniel (Cindy) and Robert Mark (Dolly) and his grandchildren Nathan, Tyson, Danica, Kolby, Felicity, Shannon and Rachel whom he enjoyed so much.

Dan was born and raised in St. Catharines and went to St. C.C.I.&V.S.

Dan became quite involved in the sports community after moving to Oshawa.

He managed hockey teams in Bowmanville and Oshawa for 20 years culminating in a 1987-88 AAA Major Midget Ontario Championship.

Dan also coached young children's soccer and coached AAA Oshawa Legionnaires Juvenile Baseball.

Dan also did timekeeping for the Oshawa Jr B Hockey team and also for the Brooklin Redmen Lacrosse team.

Upon retirement he worked for 16 years at his 'dream' job in the pro shop at Heather Glen Golf Course. Dan also was a member of the board of governors for the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame for 16 years and Chairman of the Board for several of those years.

He was also inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1987 AAA Major Midget Hockey team.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame, Humane Society or Alzheimer Society.

As per Dan's wishes after the visitation would you join the family at Whiskey John's (next to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME) for a pint or two on Dan.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St., W., on Thursday September 21st, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at  oshawafuneralservices.com for the Walerowich family.
