BABBS, Sharon Anne (nee Cowling) - Passed away August 3, 2023 in her 83rd year after a lengthy illness with corticobasal degeneration which she endured with grace.
A retired Durham College professor, leader, and lifelong learner.
Mom was our star, a source of strength, a people connector, and a kind, loving, selfless, empathetic spirit with a drive to teach, help and guide others.
After excelling as an all-around high school student, Sharon joined IBM and married her high school sweetheart. Career-oriented, smart and always open to new challenges, Sharon’s work led to a successful career at Durham College and earning a B.A. and M.A. through part-time studies.
Predeceased by husband Norman (died March 20, 2020) and survived by daughters Donna and Linda, and grandchildren Ben and Krista Newey.
Predeceased by her parents William and Lillian Cowling and brother Bill.
A celebration of the lives of Sharon and Norman Babbs will take place at the Port Whitby Marina, Avalon Lounge, 301 Watson Street West, Whitby on September 28, 2023 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.
