Fialka JohnFIALKA, John Frank Fialka  -

May 21, 1931 - November 2, 2023.

John passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, with his family by his side.

He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Geri (née Eldridge), their two sons, Blair (Deanna) and Brent (Shunya), as well as their grandchildren, Brandon, Laurence and Chrissy and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Francis and by his siblings, Helen, Gladys, Mary and Bill.

A kind, quiet, gentle man, who loved a good joke and was a great storyteller, John instilled in his sons and those around him the importance of hard work, perseverance, patience, honesty, kindness and having a sense of humor.

From an early age John loved anything to do with being outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, and boating, and was able to enjoy all of these things with his family at their cottage on Lake Kushog.

He passed on this love of the outdoors and his appreciation of nature to his sons and grandchildren. In his teens and early twenties, John worked in the logging and construction industry in British Columbia.

When he returned to Oshawa, he met and fell in love with his wife, Geri, who was working at The Royal Bank. Four years later they were married in December of 1958. He went on to work in the automotive business for the next several decades, retiring at 72.

He will be forever missed and always in our hearts. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Lakeridge Health Foundation.
