MURKAR, Carole (nee BLUES)   -  In Toronto on November 3rd, after a period of declining health, Carole passed away peacefully at the age of 91.

Carole was the adored wife of Neil (d. 1994), cherished mom of Cameron and Karen (Ian) and Gram to Matthew (Amanda) and Anthony.

She was predeceased by her sister, Marilyn Campbell, and her parents, Stanley and Lorna Blues. Carole grew up in the Coxwell and Danforth neighbourhood of Toronto and spent most summers at the family cottage at Squires Beach in Pickering where, at age 15, she met Neil.

She worked for the Brokers-Dealers Association until she and Neil married and settled in Whitby where he set up his optometry practice.

As a long-time member of St. Mark's United Church in Whitby, Carole was active in its UCW activities. She developed many lifelong friendships that remained dear to her through St. Mark's and the Rotary Club of Whitby as well as in the 'old Whitby' neighbourhood where she raised her family.

Mom was one of a kind and stronger than she ever realized. After Dad's sudden passing, she lived independently for many years. She continued to work part-time, swim regularly with friends, travel to our special place in Maine, look after the family home, to entertain and decorate beautifully for every holiday, never missing the opportunity to bake her much loved shortbread cookies.

She was a great friend and a wonderful mom. We are thankful to staff at Midland Gardens Community for their kindness and compassion in caring for Mom, with special thanks to nurses Tian and Leah and to all Mom's PSWs.

A celebration of life will be held for Carole on Tuesday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's United Church, Whitby, 201 Centre St. South, L1N 4V7, (905) 668-3091. A reception will be held following the service.

If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations in Carole's memory to St. Mark's United Church www.stmarkswhitby.ca or to the Neil Murkar Charitable Foundation www.rotarywhitby.org would be appreciated.
