Aloise FerdinandALOISE, Ferdinand Francesco (Fred) Alolise  -

December 21, 1926 - December 8, 2023

Passed away peacefully at his farm in Brooklin, in the arms of his family, on Friday December 8, 2023, just weeks before his 97th birthday.

Fred was the loving husband of Maria (nee. Knauf) for over 56 years.

Beloved father of Pascal (Ashley) and Cristiana (David) and proud and loving grandfather of Markus and Austin and a grandson expected in June.

He was the son of the late Pietro and Maria Cristina Aloise and was predeceased by his sister Elena and brothers Pietro, Biaggio, Paulo, Arturo and Francesco.

Born in Italy in 1926, Fred travelled to and lived in Morocco and England as a young man after the Second World War, to find work and rebuild.

Fluent in four languages, Fred came to Canada in 1964, after which he began a lifelong career in real estate, operating his own brokerage until he ‘retired’ in 2003. Fred was tireless however, with a profound work ethic and so he began a second career, working on his farm in Brooklin, until very recently.

Fred was an avid reader with a passion for history and literature. When he met someone from another land, he would often entertain them with stories about the history of their country. He also loved classical music which he and his wife, Maria, enjoyed together.

Above all, Fred loved family and was the patriarch to his family and to many others whom he mentored and encouraged along the way.

Fred was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren.

Private viewing for family members at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby at 10 A.M Friday, Dec. 15, followed by a Funeral Mass, that all are invited to attend, at the church of St. Leo the Great, 130 Watford St., Brooklin at 11:30 A.M.

Interment will take place at Christ the King Cemetery, 7770 Steeles Ave. East, Markham.  This will be followed by a Celebration of Love with a full meal, catered by Bella Notte Restaurant, in the hall of the church of St. Leo the Great in Brooklin.

Sharing a nice Italian meal with his family and friends is exactly what Fred would have wanted.

Special thanks to oncologist, Dr. Sam Babak of Markham Stouffville Hospital for his gentle and loving care, the Palliative Care Team at Lakeridge Hospital, Oshawa, especially Dr. Caroline McAllister and our gratitude to R.N. niece,

Patty Bedard, who assisted Fred and family with great dedication and compassion, during his final months.

If desired, donations in memory of Fred can be made to Operation Smile Canada, which was his favourite charity.
