Sprackett LoisSPRACKETT, Lois Elinor  -

Lois Elinor Sprackett (nee Thompson), born in 1929, passed away peacefully in Oshawa on December 12, 2023.

Lois was a devoted and loving mother who taught her children to care for those less fortunate and file mistakes under “E for experience”.

She had a quick wit, and a great imagination and curiosity about people and the world.

Lois had a true affection for animals, especially her beloved cats Princess, Abby and Molly. She grew up in the small hamlet of St. Ola, north of Madoc, and spent her childhood living with her parents Clarence “Thompy” Thompson and Gladys (nee Morton) on her maternal grandparents' small farm.

After graduating high school in Madoc, Lois became a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Wollaston Township. Lois and her late ex-husband Ted and their children moved many times due to Ted's work with CNR.

It was not easy for Lois, as the moves were too frequent to get comfortably settled into the new communities. When their marriage ended in 1986, Lois built a new independent life for herself.

She graduated as a Health Care Aid and worked in Durham Region until she was older than many of her clients! She became a familiar figure during her 25 years on Orchardview Blvd. in Oshawa on her daily trips to the shops with her cart, in all weather.

Lois was predeceased by her son Dan. She is dearly loved and missed by her children Tony, John (Anne), Kelly (Bob) and grandchildren Zac (Emely), Luna, Eliza, Taylor and Riley (Barron); great grandchildren Kieren, Kaeli, Dexter, Harlan, Amity, Cleya Elinor, Nicholas, Cleo, and Mia.

Lois' family thanks the staff and residents at Cedarcroft Retirement Residence, along with her Personal Support Workers from Paramed, for their help and kindness in assisting her to live with dignity and a healthy degree of independence in her last years. No service has been scheduled at this time.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905) 433-5558. Online condolences can be shared at makfuneralhome.com.
