SPEEDIE, Doris Jean Speedie -
February 26, 1954 - January 14, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Speedie who passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 14, 2024, in Beaverton, Ontario, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Doris is survived by her husband, Bryan Speedie, who was the love of her life and her partner for an inspiring 51 years this February.
Her children, Kelly (Dave Dowson) Speedie and Jake Speedie, and her 3 grandchildren, Erin, Brynn, and Lane Dowson.
Doris and Bryan shared an extraordinary bond, traveling the world together and making countless memories. Their marriage was characterized by unwavering love, support, and adventure.
Doris was an intelligent and worldly woman who appreciated the beauty and diversity of cultures. Doris went to school at Durham College and worked for Canada Post for 35 years as a Post Master, and working her way up to Area Superintendent.
Born on February 26, 1954, Doris was the daughter of Fred and Elsie Rodd.
She grew up on a farm outside of Beaverton with her parents and siblings. Doris is survived by her aunt Evelyn (George) Schmidt (nee Will), her sisters Donna (John) Gutteridge, and Dianne (Jim) Cox, her brother-in-law Bill (Pat) Speedie, and many nieces and nephews.
Pre-deceased by her parents, her brother Jim Rodd, and her sister-in-law, Helen (Dave) Speedie-Jewell. Family was at the heart of Doris's life, and she cherished her children and three grandchildren deeply. She was a pillar of strength and support, and Doris's warm smile and compassionate heart brought joy to those around her.
There is no funeral service. There will be a party to celebrate Doris's life on February 10, 2024 from 1-5 at the Beaverton Royal Canadian Legion.
