Reid GeorginaREID, Georgina Jeannette Pearn Reid  - My name was Georgina Jeanette Pearn Reid and if you are reading this, I have taken my final trip home (in a red & white 1972 Pontiac LeMans Sport, my favorite).

I was living in Calgary, Alberta, and I left this big blue marble we call Earth on February 15, 2024, in my 91st year. Here is the story of my life.

I was born in Oshawa, Ontario in 1933, during the worst thunderstorm in years.

I always did like to make a grand entrance! I graduated from High School with honours at the early age of sixteen as well becoming Miss Rundle Park in the same year.

I was then a mother and homemaker until my youngest was old enough for me to go to work as a keypunch operator for GM, south plant.

I took courses & graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Durham College, Oshawa, then worked in Overseas Transportation Routing at the GM north plant. I worked for 32 years at General Motors of Canada.

I so loved to dance & sing and starred in a high school production of South Pacific while in high school. In my later years I could be found out dancing with my favourite dancing partner, my dear nephew, Paul Zedic.

I was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, the former Regent of the Oshawa Chapter, and I volunteered with the Ladies' Auxiliary for the Ontario Regiment, Oshawa in my younger years.

I was predeceased by my dear husband, Milford Albert Reid. See ya soon, Milf! I will miss forever my four sons, David (Susan), Daniel (Lorelei), Gregory (Glenda), and Gary (Rhonda), and my dearest only daughter, Lori (Bill).

I will miss my beloved eleven grandchildren, Angela, Jody, David Jr, Chad, Tammy, Tanya, Gregory Jr, James, Samuel, Ben, Lucas, and, oh my, good golly, my fifteen great-grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren!

I wish them all good long lives and know that they were all the greatest loves of my life.

I am looking forward to reuniting with my parents, Cecil Gordon Pearn and Rosina Emma Helena Yahnke, my brothers, baby Gordon Cecil, Cecil Edwin, and my dearest sister, Dorothy Serena, and I am survived by my baby brother, George Eric.

I hope that I will be remembered fondly by many, many nieces, and nephews. I much enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, cooking, dancing, singing, Shirley Temple movies, Doris Day singing, and I especially loved cooking for the Calgary Firefighters when my son Gary was in service.

I took a memorable vacation to Mexico with my best friend, Micheline, in 1985, the one and only time that I ever left Canada. I hope that I will be most remembered for my kindness and my willingness to help anyone, anywhere, anytime. At least, I really tried to be this way, lol.

I and my family gratefully thank the Father Lacombe Care Centre, Calgary, for the truly kind and thoughtful care of myself in the past few years.

Many thanks to Dr Thomas Bouchard, as well as Linda & Olga from the Father Lacombe Care Centre for being good friends as well as the wonderful caregivers that they were.

As per my orders and wishes, I will be cremated, and there had better not be any service or visitation, no siree!

As per my wishes, I will be cremated, and my final resting place will be at Oshawa Union Cemetery, with my beloved Mom and Dad.

I have authorized that a small graveside service will be held at 11am on June 3rd, 2024, a reception to follow at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD, 152 King St. E., Oshawa, (905-433-5558).

Donations to AARCS Safe Haven and Veterinary Hospital, or to the Firefighters Burn Treatment Society, would be much appreciated, in lieu of flowers.

Online condolences can be shared at makfuneralhome.com .
