Biondo GiovanniBIONDO, Giovanni Biondo  -

February 4, 1935 - April 12, 2024

Giovanni was born on February 4th,1935 in Sicily, Italy.

He immigrated to Montreal, Quebec with his family at the age of sixteen.

Giovanni was the eldest of three children with a younger brother and sister to follow.

On April 3rd, 1954, he married the love of his life, Antonina (Nina) Lombardo. They have three daughters Mary Schuller (Dieter), Caterina MacAskill (David), and Sylvie Muscat (Adrian). After a short residence in Torino, Italy, he and his family moved to Mississauga, Ontario. Giovanni (John) had an infectious smile.

He loved his wife and family, but most of all, he loved to talk to everyone about his religion and the teachings of Jehovah’s Witness.

He was a passionate crossing guard, serving school communities in Mississauga, Whitby and Oshawa. His love for the children was evident and their admiration in return was special to witness. Giovanni was known as "Nonno" to six grandchildren and their partners: Nicole Schuller-Furrer (Beni), Jessica (Jaye)Falcioni (Drew MacLeod), Stephanie Neals (Justin), Natasha Falcioni (Asa), Christopher MacAskill (Amanda) and Matthew MacAskill (Andrea).

He enjoyed his role as a great-grandfather to Braxton and Oakley (Stephanie/Justin), sadly passing shortly before his great-granddaughter's expected arrival (Chris/Amanda).

In February, Giovanni had a bad fall and broke his hip; he was hospitalized but never recovered. He died peacefully at Lakeridge Health Whitby on April 12th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and devoted elder (clergy). May he rest in peace.

A Memorial Service will take place at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME, Whitby on Saturday, April 27, 2024  at 2:30 p.m. Family and Friends are welcome for a Celebration of Life and fellowship immediately following the service in the Funeral Home Reception Room.
