Hiemstra HaroldHIEMSTRA, Harold  -

May 14, 1931 - April 22, 2024

It is with deep sadness we share the news that our father, Harold Hiemstra passed away at Taunton Mills on April 22nd, 2024, just before his 93rd birthday.

He was born on May 14th, 1931 in Hallum, Friesland, The Netherlands and came to Canada on his own in 1950.

He met our mother here soon after arriving and they were married on July 18th, 1953.

They made a comfortable home and life for us all and were together for 70 years.

We will be forever grateful for his care and guidance throughout our lives. He was hard working, honest and resourceful as well as kind and loving.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Hiemstra (Herrema), daughters Yvonne Hiemstra (Michael), and Joanne Brown (nee Hiemstra), granddaughter Kayla (Anthony), and great granddaughters Sabrina, Leighton and KoraLynn. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration to honour Harold’s life will be held on May 24th from 3:00 to 5:00 at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa.

Interment to take place at a later date at Foster Memorial Cemetery, Leaskdale.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to one of the Canadian relief funds through Canadian Red Cross. https://www.redcross.ca/active-responses.
