      Ontario Junior Hockey League, Whitby Fury Junior A Hockey Club, in conjunction with Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, invite the community to sign a guestbook of condolence at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby in memory of the players and team personnel who lost their lives in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.

    The book will be available daily from  9 a.m. - 8 p.m. until Monday, April 23rd, at which time the book will be sent to the OJHL offices to be sent to the team in Saskatchewan

Hockey sticks will be donated to support minor hockey in our community.

As well, OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL and DIGNITY MEMORIAL will make a donation to support Minor Hockey for every stick collected.

Matthews MarionMATTHEWS, Marion Doreen - Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, July 14th, 2017 with her two sons by her side.

Doreen Matthews (nee Laughlin) in her 85th year, 6 weeks after her beloved husband John Matthews.

Loving mother of Robert and his wife Barb, and David and his wife Cory.

Nana of Russell, Melissa, Sarah, Megan and Katie.

Sister-in-law to Joan Matthews and the late Lois Brandt.

Aunt of Nancy and Christopher Brandt.

Predeceased by her parents Bea and Elgin Laughlin and her brother Glenn. Doreen graduated from teachers college in 1953 and spent many years teaching in the Guelph and Durham School Boards.

She will be remembered for her years of service to Northminster United Church and to the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Tuesday, July 18th from 6 – 9 p.m. and at NORTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH (676 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa) on Wednesday, July 19th from 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12:00 noon.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to Northminster United Church, Oshawa or the  CHARITY of one’s choice would be appreciated.
