Corey LorraineCOREY, Lorraine Elizabeth  - Passed away peacefully in her 87th year at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa, with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.

In 1953 Lorraine married the love of her life Joseph Corey, who together have lived a life centred around family and faith.

Beloved mother of Catharine (Bob White) of Ottawa, Paul (Patricia Woodley-Vooys) of Tyrone, and Anne Marie, of Oshawa.

Loving and proud Nana to seven grandchildren; Lianne (John Robinson), David, Kathleen (Robbie Wighton), Sian (Ian Lanaway), Kevin, Peter Vooys (Shannon) and David Vooys (Telisha).

Lorraine is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Ruth Ann Mead, sisters-in-law Nancy Corey, (William, predeceased), and Yvonne Corey (James, predeceased), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, William and Mabel Mead, and her daughter-in-law, Arleen Power Corey.

Lorraine was also predeceased by Joe's parents, William and Mary Rose Corey, and Joe's siblings and their spouses, Rose and Douglas Luey, and Patricia and Robert Duffy.

Lorraine was an active member of St Mary of the People Catholic Church for 52 years; her faith in God showed each day.

Over the years she was President of the Catholic Womens’ League, Co-Director of the Marriage Preparation Course with her husband, and founding Director of Birthright in Oshawa.

With her husband and a committed and fun-loving group of friends/parishioners, untold funds were raised for the various needs of the parish and the community. Lorraine was a gifted organizer and a hard worker. Lorraine will be missed dearly by all who love her.

Visitation will take place at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Friday, December 15th from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm.

On Saturday, December 16th at 11:00 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at ST. MARY OF THE PEOPLE PARISH, 570 Marion Avenue, Oshawa. Internment at Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rose of Durham in Lorraine’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
