      Ontario Junior Hockey League, Whitby Fury Junior A Hockey Club, in conjunction with Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, invite the community to sign a guestbook of condolence at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby in memory of the players and team personnel who lost their lives in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.

    The book will be available daily from  9 a.m. - 8 p.m. until Monday, April 23rd, at which time the book will be sent to the OJHL offices to be sent to the team in Saskatchewan

HumboldtStrong BannerA book of remembrance and support has been placed in the lobby of the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME for residents of Oshawa, Whitby and Clarington. This will be sent to the community of Humboldt to show our support and solidarity.

Feel free to add to our memorial in front of the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME.

Hockey sticks will be donated to support minor hockey in our community.

As well, OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL and DIGNITY MEMORIAL will make a donation to support Minor Hockey for every stick collected.

Dowell KennethDOWELL, Kenneth Steven  - Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his friends and family on January 7, 2018 at 11:11am at the age of 54, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Ken will be forever missed by his sons Quinn and Logan, step-daughter Sarah Davey and their mother Beth Dowell.

Beloved son of Carol Dowell-Gurr and the late Ken Dowell Sr, loving brother to Karen Forrest (Ron) and dear uncle to Eric, Stephanie and Allyson.

Special friend to Rebecca Schumacher and best friend to Jim Burton.

Ken was an avid fisherman and an accomplished guitarist. He was devoted to his music, playing in many bands over the years including Yeseram, The Empty Cases and Void. Ken was most proud of the twelve-string acoustic guitar he built this past summer as well as the electric guitar he built when he was a teenager.

Ken will be fondly remembered by many friends, bandmates and coworkers at Atlantic Lifts. Special thanks to Elwood Ellis for all of his help and support during Ken’s illness.

No funeral service will be held as per Ken’s request; however, a Celebration of Life will be held in his honour in the near future.

Donations can be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre.
