SPINA, Rosario - It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Rosario Spina on February 27, 2018 in his 86th year.
Beloved husband of 20 years to Gilda Tulipano Spina.
Predeceased by his cherished wife Maria (May 1993).
Loving father of Gina (Carmine) Bruno, John (Jayne) and Dino (Shirley).
Dear step-father to Laura, the late Gian Franco, Giuliana, Mariano and Marcello along with their spouses and children.
Proud Nonno to Michael and Laura, David, Christopher and Laura, Matthew, Bradley, Monica and Kaitlyn.
Great-grandfather to Kiera.
Survived by his sister Franca (Italy), sister-in-law Mariannina and sister-in-law Elisa (Italy).
Predeceased by his sister Luisa, his brothers Eugenio and Domenico and his brothers-in-law Francesco and Michele. Rosario was blessed with a large extended family of caring nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law of the Maione and Richichi families as well as friends.
He was a proud retiree from General Motors (30+ years). In his later years he took great pride in his gardening and wine making. Rosario’s mission in life was to love and care for his family. He was happiest when surrounded by family, especially his grandchildren whom he was very proud of and loved very much.
Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King St. E on Friday March 2nd from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Parish prayers will be held at 3pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am on Saturday March 3rd at St. Mary of the People Roman Catholic Church, 570 Marion Ave. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby.
