Cassells JoyceCASSELLS, Joyce Marion (nee Cubbage) - (April 4th, 1935 – March 15th, 2018) - 

Born in Brechin, Ontario, Joyce Marion Cassells (nee Cubbage) passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa surrounded by her treasured family, in her 83rd year.

She was the cherished wife of the late James T. Cassells.

Much loved mother of Cynthia Estabrooks (James Estabrooks) of Bethlehem, PA, Terri Donavan, and Scott Cassells of Oshawa.

 

She was a devoted grandmother of 10 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was a loving sister to Jackie Scott (deceased), BonnieIssa of Oshawa, and ConnieSeaver of Calgary, and loving aunt, and great aunt to her extended family of nephews and nieces whom she adored.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, the late Leonard and Helen Cubbage of Oshawa.

Joyce was a vivacious and loving woman. She worked and raised a family. Having a stroke at an early age, she did not slow down, enjoying her family and life, but came back to golfing, bowling and curling.

She and her husband Jim shared their time between Chemong Lake at their trailer in the summer, and winters at their home in Lakeland, Florida. After having a severe stroke, and shortly thereafter losing her beloved husband, Joyce had spent the last years at Sunnycrest Nursing Home in Whitby.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sunnycrest for the care and love they extended to her each and every day over the last ten years, and to the staff at Lakeridge Health, both on the cardiac floor and the palliative care floor during her final journey.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 7th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at 75 Beckett Crescent in Courtice, Ontario.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a CHARITY of choice.

Joyce’s ashes will be laid to rest beside her parents, and with her husband in Brooklin, Ontario.
