SEAWARD, Garfield - It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that the family of the late Garfield Seaward announce his peaceful passing at his home on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the age of 79 years.
Born in Southport Newfoundland to Martin and Rebecca Seaward.
Garfield will be sadly missed but never forgotten by his wife of 56 years Gertie.
Garfield leaves behind his siblings Joe, Ron, Peter and Sis.
He was extremely loving and proud of his children, Rosalind (Kent), Tony (Peter), Roxanne (John), Tracey (Karen), Todd and Leah. He adored his eight grandchildren Michael (Catherine), Jonathan (Cara), Rebecca (Damion), Matthew, Ryland, Samantha, Owen and Jackson. Will be forever remembered by his great grandchildren, Lillian, Audrey, Nathan, Alexis and Jaxson.
Garfield was a passionate man who loved his family. He worked for many years with Metro Toronto Housing and until recently, volunteered with Community Care as a driver. His spare time was spent fishing, hunting and watching his Toronto Maple Leafs.
A very special thank you to the Oshawa Cancer Centre, particularly Nurse Kelly, who guided him through the toughest years of his life.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 28th, 2018 from 12pm – 1:00pm at Newcastle Funeral Home. Service to follow at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oshawa Cancer Centre will be appreciated.
