HERALD, Elizabeth 'Betty'Energetic, outgoing and kind hearted, beloved by her family and friend to many, passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2018 at Hillsdale Estates, battling to end the brain cancer that took her too soon.

Beloved wife of 59 years to the late John (Feb. 03, 2018), Betty went to join him on their 59th wedding anniversary.

Cherished mother of Stephen and John, daughter-in-law Yolanda and devoted Granny to Evan, Lee and Robert.

Survived and adored by her brothers David and Jimmy, sister-in-law Eleanor, Brother-in-law Ian. Aunty Betty will be missed by the many nieces and nephews in the UK she loved to visit and the many children of our extended family who loved their “Granny Herald”.

Mum will be dearly missed by her many friends from the Oshawa Lawn Bowling club, The Eastern Star, The St. Andrews Society and other clubs and activities she so much enjoyed.

A special thanks to the amazing and caring staff and fellow residents at Hillsdale estates who cared for both Mum and Dad over the last year; The kind and giving team at Princess Margaret Hospital radiology and chemotherapy who saw mum through her thorough treatment; to Ashley Robertson who cared for Mum at home and to the many family, friends and community support staff that helped Mum stay in her home for as long as possible.

Resting at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa (905) 433-4711, for visitation Thursday, April 12th from 2pm-4pm & 6pm-8pm, and Friday, April 13th at 10am – 11am with a service to follow in the chapel at 11am.

A celebration of both Betty and John’s life will be held following the service at The Tartan Tavern, 555 Rossland Rd E, Oshawa.

Donations are gratefully accepted to “Hillsdale Estates,” noting the Resident Events Fund on the cheque memo line.
