      Ontario Junior Hockey League, Whitby Fury Junior A Hockey Club, in conjunction with Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, invite the community to sign a guestbook of condolence at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby in memory of the players and team personnel who lost their lives in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.

    The book will be available daily from  9 a.m. - 8 p.m. until Monday, April 23rd, at which time the book will be sent to the OJHL offices to be sent to the team in Saskatchewan

Hockey sticks will be donated to support minor hockey in our community.

As well, OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL and DIGNITY MEMORIAL will make a donation to support Minor Hockey for every stick collected.

Schmidt BernardSCHMIDT, Bernard Paul  - Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side on Friday, April 13th, 2018.

He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his wife Alexandra and his children Pamela and Danielle.

Cherished son of Josephine, predeceased by his father Herbert.

Dear brother of Anne and Kurt(Leeanne) and brother-in-law of Paul (Carol) and Susan.

Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 2 pm – 4 pm and 6 pm – 8 pm at THORNTON CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, (South of Taunton Road and off of Dryden Blvd, 905-579-6787).

A celebration of Bernie’s life will take place in the chapel on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior and burial then reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humboldt Broncos GoFundMe Campaign or a donation (payable to Alexandra Schmidt) to contribute towards the placing of a memorial bench in Algonquin Park would be appreciated.
