VERNON, Elma - After a long and well lived life, the family announces the death of Elma Ruth Vernon (nee Reesor) on Friday, July 27, 2018 at age 101.
Elma, beloved wife of the late Robert Franklin Vernon.
Loved mother of the late Robert Vernon (Barbara), Marianne (Robert Free), John Vernon (Isabelle), and Peter James Vernon(Desmond Smirl).
Proud Grandma of Karyn (Stephen Miskelly), David Vernon (Charlotte Pattee), Craig Free (Hilary Whitehead), Ryan Free (Connie), Brett Free (Dana), Lisa (Darren Lyver), and Jason Vernon (Belinda). Treasured Great Grandmother “G.G.” of Brianne, Robert, and Hannah Free, Sophia and Tyson Free, Madison, Jessica, and Jayden Lyver, and Jacob and Hunter Vernon.
Elma was predeceased by her siblings Gordon Reesor (Florence), Charles Reesor (Alma) and Dora (Merle Dowson). Elma is also predeceased by the Vernon brothers Harold (Helen), Ron (Evelyn), Ray (Joan), and Clare (Janet).
A service in celebration of her life will take place at the Port Perry United Church on Monday, July 30th, 2018. Visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00. Reception to follow in the church auditorium. Private family burial to take place at a later date.
If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Port Perry United Church Memorial Fund or the MS Society of Canada.
