SINGH, Dr. Kuldip - Age 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 1, 2016a t the Burloak Long Term Care Centre following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Bella; his son, Roger and his wife, Shanti; his daughter, Nina and her husband, Christian; and six grandchildren.
Born and raised in India, Kuldip traveled to Canada to pursue a PhD in Mathematics. After completing his PhD at the University of British Columbia in 1967, he accepted a teaching position at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. He went back to India to marry his wife, Bella. They were married on July 23,1967.
Upon returning to Canada, Kuldip and Bella started their family and a new life. Kuldip went on to have a distinguished career as a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UNB. He rose through the ranks and attained full professorship. In addition, he published numerous papers in his field earning the respect of his peers and students alike.
Kuldip was very intent on his family becoming immersed in his beloved new country. He was not shy when faced with new challenges. He took downhill skiing lessons, learned to play piano and even joined a children's figure skating class while he was in his 50's because he 'wanted to learn to skate'. However, tennis was his great passion. He loved watching and playing tennis. Kuldip was also an avid reader outside of his field. He took great interest in world events and history.
He and his wife were excellent bridge players and made numerous friends through the game. They had wonderful chemistry and enjoyed playing and winning tournaments together. Kuldip was a devoted family man and made every decision in the best interest of his family. He leaves us with many precious gifts including a blueprint for living a productive, long life.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 8 from 4 - 7pm at the Dodsworth & Brown funeral home, Burlington Chapel, Burlington, Ontario.
