Brown DouglasBROWN, Douglas Harold - Age 72 of Oakville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 7, 2017 with family by his side, after a courageous fight against pulmonary fibrosis.

It is impossible to exaggerate what an amazing father he was or his total devotion to the love of his life and high school sweetheart, his wife Kaye. He was a wonderful father to Jane Battye and Julie Fisher and cherished Grandpa of Savannah and Sienna Battye and Will Fisher.

Doug graduated from Guelph University with an Honours Bachelor Degree of Science, Chemistry and Agriculture. He furthered his education with an MBA through York University. Doug enjoyed a long and rewarding career with Noranda Inc., lastly as a Director of Economics and Pension Investments.

He spent time on the Industry Advisory Panel to the United Nations International Lead and Zinc Study Group and was a member of the Advisory Committee on the Modernization and Operation of the National Defense Stockpile for the US Department of Defense (Pentagon). Doug was Chairman of the Trade and Policy Committee, Chairman of the Mining Association of Canada as well as Chairman and Board member for the Canadian Council for International Business.

He had a rich, fulfilling retirement, participating on the Finance & Investment Committee for the Community Foundation of Oakville, Volunteer Adviser for the Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) and was on the Board of Directors for the Oakville Golf Club.

Doug was an astute investor, world traveler, voice of reason and above all a very loving, giving family man and friend.
