Olsen DorisOLSEN, Doris Elaine, BA  - Doris Elaine Olsen (nee Sharp) passed away peacefully on March 14, 2017, in Burlington, Ontario, in her 90th year.

Predeceased by her loving husband of more than 56 years, Robert Olaf Olsen and sadly missed by daughter Nancy Rivers (Tony) and sons Thomas and Ronald (Janet).

Grandma will be forever remembered by Elaina and Andrew Pawelka, Heather Rivers, Hailey and Natalie Olsen, and Gillian Olsen.

Born in Brockville, Ontario, on July 23, 1927, Doris grew up in Ottawa, first distinguishing herself as an outstanding student at Lisgar Collegiate. Her academic achievements continued at Queen's University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1949.

A devoted wife and mother to her three children, Doris' kindness, generosity and fine mind with a keen sense of humour were the perfect match for the Queen's Engineer she married on July 22, 1950.

Their greatest project together was the successful accomplishment of a long and happy marriage lived one day at a time. Always an outstanding life coach and teacher for her family, re-entering the work-for-pay force in the 1970s at Erindale College (University of Toronto) was a natural progression.

Home life was the top priority whether in Buckingham, Quebec, St. John's, Newfoundland, Clarkson, Oakville, Burlington, or the many wonderful summers at McGregor Lake in the Gatineau. Retirement years meant more time for grandchildren, travel, winters in Venice, Florida, baking amazing pies and sharing her love of the piano.

We should all be so lucky to live our lives with Doris' energy, determination, passion and integrity. Together her family celebrates a life well lived. Arrangements entrusted with Kopriva Taylor funeral home, Oakville.
