Marshall MelindaMARSHALL, Melinda Leila - Age 80, of Oakville, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2017.

She was born to the late Alfred Danglade and Catherine Blenman on May 13, 1936. Melinda attended elementary and high schoolin Trinidad before emigrating the England to study nursing.

She met her husband, Joseph, on her journey to England and they were married for 53 years. She was a caring and dedicated Registered Nursing Assistant at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital during the latter half of her career.  In her retirement years, she volunteered in the library of her grandchildren’s elementary school in Oakville.

Family and friends were Melinda’s love and joy, particularly her three grandchildren.  She was a voracious reader, especially books by authors, Austin Clarke, V.S. Naipaul, and Samuel Selvon. She loved calypso and soca music. She loved to knit, crochet and sew. She and her late husband liked to entertain and frequently had get-togethers at their house with close friends.

For several years after retirement, Melinda would visit Florida annually with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Melinda is survived by three children, Karen, Keith and Kevin, her grandchildren, Tatiana, Warren and Anders, as well her sisters, Yvonne and Leticia and brothers, Joseph, Lawrence and Anthony. She also leaves behind a lot of caring relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her over the last two and a half years at The Village of Erin Meadows in Mississauga. 

If you wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers, they may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks funeral home Oakville on Apri l15th from 12:00 pm until Funeral service begins at 1:00 p.m.  Burial to follow.
