Fraser DuncanFRASER, Duncan - It is with profound sadness that Molly and Russell advise of the death of their beloved husband and father on Tuesday, May 9th, 2017.

Duncan was the son of the late Alex and Julia Fraser and brother of the late Frank. He was born on the island of Millport, Scotland in 1945 and grew up in Glasgow before immigrating with Molly to New Brunswick in 1979. They spent 12 years ther and Russell was born in Fredericton. The family moved to Ontario in 1990 and they were very happy in Oakville.

Duncan was a Master Bookbinder par excellence and had the privilege of working on books for the Queen, other members ot the Royal family, two Popes, and Canada’s “royalty” Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe.

 

Martins RaymondMARTINS, Raymond Anthony  - On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in his 78th year, our beloved father and grand-dad passed away at Carpenter Hospice in Burlington, ON after many years battling with cancer.

Raymond was the loving father of Dwayne (Mary-Jane) and Nicholas (Karen). Much loved grand-dad to Megan (Adam), Daniel, Matthew, Kylie and Noah.

Raymond is survived by his mother Dorothea Ona Mendonca and predeceased by his step-father Joseph Mendonca and by his father and step-mother, Gerald and Leila Martins.

Loving brother of the late Patricia McConnell (the late Richard), Gerry (Junior) Martins (Yvonne), Mary Roberts (Stewart) and Fiona Willison (David). Also, survived by his former wife Jacqui Martins.

 

Reukl EricREUKL, Erich August 'Eric' - Peacefully at Burloak Long Term Care Centre on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the age of 84.

Beloved husband of Gertrude “Trudie” Reukl (nee Lang). Loving father of Rob Reukl and his wife Nicole. Cherished grandfather of Spencer Reukl.

Predeceased by his parents Josef and Margarete Reukl and brother Gustaz Franz Reukl. Eric will be fondly remembered by his extended family in both Canada and Austria.

Ruth was born in St. Thomas 94 years ago.

Her great passions were her husband “Bud” and her family, and after the passing of Bud in August 1975, she enjoyed such activities as bowling (inside & out), sailing and being navigator for a special sport of long distant race driving along with her CNIB friends.

Rita was born and raised in Lindsay Ontario by parents Steve and Emma (Curtain) Callaghan. Predeceased by husband Gerald (Jerry) Little. Rita retired from Canada Metal in Toronto after 30+ years of service.

Rita is the loving Mother of Patricia Gaudette, and Grandmother to Laura, Kimberly, Joshua, Jonathon and predeceased by Trace, Natasha, Stephen and Zachary. Also loving Great Grandmother to Rachel, Natalie, Trenton, Marissa, Teaghan, Declan, Dani, Fia, Aiden, Sterling and predeceased by Jacob and Natasha.

 

Kafato KrinoKAFATO, Krino, MD - Passed away peacefully on May 9, 2017 at his home in Burlington, Ontario at age 93.

Born in Trabzon, Turkey, he moved to Canada in 1956. Krino was the fifth and youngest child of Anesti and Dikranuhi (Kasapian). He was predeceased by his siblings; Roberto, Louisa, Antonio, and Anaise.

Krino leaves behind his devoted wife of 59 years, June (née MacPherson); his children, Robert (Mara), Caroline (Calum), Anthony (Lori), and David; his grandchildren Samantha (Matthew), Marley, Stephanie, Julia and Katelyn; his great-grandson Colin Krino; and many others who fondly knew him as ‘Uncle Krino’ or ‘Krino Umca’.

Olga is predeceased by her husband Julian (1997)‎, infant daughter Mary (1950), as well as sisters Anastasia Masotti, Margaret Sobotka, Emily Kozell, and Anne Jacobs.

She will be greatly missed by daughter Julianna (Howard McIsaac) and son Ted (Lynda). Much loved Grammi to Nichole (Chris), Erin (Aaron), Caroline (Sunil), and Kathryn (David) and great grandma to Eleanor, Audrey, Nathan, Anna, and Penelope. She is survived by sister Joan Kling and several nieces and nephews.

We lift up to God with gratitude for the life of Jim, beloved son of Dorothy and the late Arthur William Jefferies. He passed away at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital of complications from a fall.

Jim was an accomplished athlete and enjoyed playing guitar. He was a graduate of Oakville Trafalgar High School and was attending Ryerson when he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He worked at S.T.R.I.D.E. for 25 years before his retirement 5 years ago.

Jim was a gentle soul who was a dear companion to his mother after his Dad passed away and they shared a very special bond. His life had great consequences in Canada. He was the inspiration for his dad Bill along with Dorothy's support and care to create the Friends of Schizophrenics which became the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario and The Canadian Schizophrenia Society and the development of The World Schizophrenia Fellowship.

Frank was a man of many accomplishments. His distinguished professional career began after 15 years of service in the Royal and Canadian Navy with many great service men and women whom he often recalled quite fondly to those who would listen. Dad progressed in the insurance industry as a boiler and pressure vessel expert assisting companies throughout the world in mitigating risk.

 

Shanks NoelSHANKS, Noel Charles - Peacefully on May 6, 2017 in hospital in Burlington, Ont.

Noel was born Christmas Day 1922 in Sharbot Lake, Ont. An RCAF veteran of the Second World War, Noel flew 29 missions as a rear gunner in an RAF Lancaster bomber, including over Normandy on D-Day. He met King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and the then Princess Elizabeth.

Upon his return to Canada, Noel met and married his wife, Eileen, with whom he worked for many years at Air Canada, with postings in Montreal, Florida and Trinidad.

Mom was born and raised in the Town of Mount Royal, Montreal and graduated from the Montreal General School of Nursing. Nursing was a lifelong passion and after a variety of careers in the field, she retired at 66.
