Anderson AnnANDERSON, Ann Eunice - Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 13, 2017 at Georgetown Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ann was in her 74th year.

Beloved wife of Terry for 53 years. Mom to Dana (Vernon) and beloved Nanny Ann to her grandchildren Alex and Zoe.

Cherished sister to Sandie and the late Samantha and sister-in-law to Eric (Barbara). Loving Auntie Ann to Kerry, Clayton, Dean and Ian and great auntie to Jordan, Chloe, Ben, Toby and Thomas.

 

Dyriw MayDYRIW, May - (1928 - 2017) - May passed away peacefully on January 13, 2017 at Stone Lodge Retirement Home in Guelph.

She was predeceased by her parents Anna and Michael Dyriw and her cherished sister Olga (2010).

May was born in Acton, attended school in Acton and spent here entire career in the Bank of Montreal in Acton. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Patron of Canada Parish. She will be missed by neighbors, friends and family in Acton, Toronto and St. Catharines.

 

Adeney DavidADENEY, David Arthur - Passed away peacefully at 73 on January 13, 2017, at the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington. Diagnosed with terminal brain cancer seven weeks earlier, he bravely declined surgery.

A native of Paris, Ontario, Dave was a man of words (he wrote the slogan: “Dofasco. Our product is steel. Our strength is people”) and music (guitar, piano, composed music and sang tenor).

Loving father of Kathryn Adeney (Peter Musgrave), Heather Adeney (Dave Meisenheimer), Peter Adeney (Simi Khabra), and Christopher Adeney (Heather Aggus Adeney).

Beloved grandfather of Paul, Andrew, Dan, Simon, Saxon and Lucie. Stepfather of David (Yana) Wood and Andrew (Tessa) Wood, and step grandfather of Jasper and Harlow.

Survived by his first wife, Jane Adeney, and his widow, Linda Layton, as well as brothers Michael (Rilla), Geoffrey (Irene) and James (Ariel).

 

Emmerson ShirleyEMMERSON, Shirley Elizabeth - Born in Toronto on October 25, 1926, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2017 in Oakville surrounded by family.

Shirley married Fred Pierce in 1948 and they settled in Leaside. They had three children, Brian (Catherine, Stephanie deceased), Heather (Peter) and Glenn (Alicia).

After Fred's passing in 1965, Shirley remarried George Emmerson in 1971 and blended two families, including George's three children, Dave (deceased)(Pat), Todd (Kim) and Mardy; at which time Shirley and her children moved to Etobicoke.

 

Pindilli HelenPINDILLI, Helen Isabel (nee Haines) - (1924 - 2017) - Passed away at The Village of Tansley Woods, Burlington on January 12, 2017, in her 93rd year.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph (Giuseppe) Pindilli (1996).

Cherished mother to Ruth and Philip and sister to previously deceased siblings Margaret, Robert (the late Ingeborg) and Edith.

Born on February 10, 1924 to George and Catherine Haines (nee Masson) in Elfros, Saskatchewan. Sister-in-law to Alfredo Pindilli (Grazia), the late Jimmy Pindilli (Angela), the late Savina Carbone (Fortunato), the late Caterina Porto (the late Rocco), the late Ermenia Panuccio and the late Lena Scullino (the late Frank). She will be missed by her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many friends.

Helen started her teaching career in Kirkland Lake, taught for years in her hometown of Timmins before moving south where she taught in schools in Hamilton and Burlington.

 

Vicente MariaVICENTE, Maria Candida Morais Picamilho - Born in Valpacos Portugal on December 12, 1945, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2017 in Toronto.

Maria married Victor Vicente on December 30th, 1978 and they settled in Toronto. They had two children, Ricardo and Ruben. She had 2 grandchildren, Olivia and Charlotte (Ricardo). 

Maria worked for Foster Parents Plan as a secretary.  Maria loved her family here in Canada, and her extended family in Portugal and Brazil.

 

Edwards DerekEDWARDS, Derek Maurice - Peacefully at The Brant Centre on Thursday, January 12, 2017 in his 95th year.

Survived by his loving wife, Joyce (nee Ramsay). Dear father of Bruce (Trish), Frances (Dana) Smyth, and loved father-in-law of Gail. Cherished grandfather of Lori (Michael) Rosenberg, Katie and Jenny Edwards.

Predeceased by brother Graham, and survived by sister-in-law Nancy. Brother-in-law of Doris Ramsay. He will be dearly missed by extended family and friends.

Born in Winnipeg, Derek graduated in Chemical Engineering from McGill University and later earned a Masters of Business Administration degree at McMaster University. Retired as Operations Manager of Diamond Shamrock Canada, he found a wonderful second career in engineering with Aramco in Saudi Arabia.

 

White JimWHITE, James Thomas - (July 12, 1940 - January 12, 2017) - Passed peacefully away, with his beloved wife Wendy at his side, of neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer.

Born in the small village of Whitford in Devon, England, Jim apprenticed at Bristol Aircraft Company, graduating in mechanical engineering. At BAC he met his wife of almost 55 years, Wendy, then a wind tunnel technician and later a flight test analyst.

For a year Jim worked at Wisley Airfield, revelling in “living life on the edge” as an onboard test flight engineer on pre-production BAC 111s. After a brief period working at Esso, he returned to British Aerospace in Bristol to work on the Concorde project.

During this time his children, Tom and Beverley, were born. Commuting daily by air to Fairford, then weekly to Toulouse, he helped to train pilots on the Concorde flight simulator.

 

GOODCHILD, Gordon Roy 'Gord' - Gord passed away on January 11, 2017 at Burloak Long Term Care, Palliative unit, in his 70th year. His loving partner Betty never left his side.

Predeceased by his parents Horace and Winifred of Watford, England. Loving stepfather to Jody (Adrienne), Jeff (Sarah), and Jamie (Linda).

Loved dearly and will be missed by his 6 grandchildren; Madison (Grasshopper), MacKenzie, Carter, Grayson, Ocean, and Brielle.

 

McCAULEY, Claudia (nee Broadbent) - Passed away peacefully at The Village of Tansley Woods on Wednesday, January 11, 2017.

Devoted wife to Bill for 60 years. Loving mother to Robyn McCauley-Echlin (Gary), Suzanne Matthews (Alan), and Scott (Cathy). Beloved grandmother to Brian (Samantha), Joel (Tara), Jared (Alycia), Amy, David, Leanne, and Christina.

Predeceased by her parents Horace and Elsie Broadbent, and by her siblings Lyola Broadbent and Jack Broadbent. She is survived by sister-in-law Donna Bailey (Brian).

Claudia will be missed by her special friend Maryann Lennox.

 

Richardson DianeRICHARDSON, Diane Jean - (April 27, 1940 - January 11, 2017) - Sadly, the family announces the passing of Diane, after a six-month battle with a brain tumour.

Diane will be sorely missed by her husband of 55 years John, daughter Susan Layfield (Brian) Oakville, James Richardson (Maria) Burlington, and Beth Richardson (Scott Johnston) Whitby. Loving Grandma to Isabelle and Bremner Layfield, Zach, Nathan and Linda Richardson.

She also will be missed by her brother Gary Carter (Terry) of Calgary.

After graduating from Leaside High, Diane worked for Manulife for a short period of time before taking up her full-time job of wife and MOM. John and Diane spent many happy years in London, ON before returning to live in the country in Caledon and latterly Oakville.

Devoted wife to Eugen for 45 years. Loving mother to Leah Sykes (Arnett), Mark Arnett, and Jane Arnett. Step mother to Karin Fradgley (Roger), Henny Fleischer, and Rosemarie Dufour (Dan).

A chartered electrical engineer from the University of London, England, Sebastian had the opportunity to travel the globe having fulfilling work and life experiences in many different countries. His later career as a lecturer and educator gave him the opportunity to pass on his wealth of knowledge and experience to other generations who wanted to learn.

Shipmand EstelleSHIPMAND, Estelle  - After a long healthy life and a brief encounter with cancer, Estelle Lea Shipman passed on Monday, January 9, 2017 at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, in her 93rd year.

Predeceased by Harry her husband of 63 years, her parents and six of her eight siblings.

Survived by two sisters Martha Pratte of Rouyn, Que. and Simone Drury of Stoney Creek, Ont.

Devoted mother to Wayne (Elizabeth), Barbara (Bill), Leonard (Julie) and Heather Shipman. Grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She was so happy to receive visits from several of her grandchildren in hospital.
