Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia, on June 17, 1949 the daughter of the late Ronald (1905) and Florence (1911) Fraser (nee MacKinnon), sister to Betty, Patricia, Evelyn, Catherine, Arthur, Joey, and David.

Hattie & husband Crawford Peter Dearing (1949-2004) (Glace Bay) set their sails west to Ontario where they swooned and fell in love with each other - each and every day, regularly writing the other love letters.


Papillon JoanPAPILLON, Joan Anne (nee Nicolas) - (1947 - 2017) - Peacefully at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the age of 69.

Joan (nee Nicolas) Papillon was the beloved wife of David for 49 years. Loving mother of Kim (Guy) and Keri (Yogi). Forever loved Nana of Mackenzie, Montana, Merek and Mekhi. Dear sister of Jerry, Carl and Sandy Nicholas, Mary Jane (Bob) Brenton, sister-in-law Florence Papillon and brother-in-law Fred Gordon. Cherished aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Charles and Helen Nicolas and her in-laws Archibald and Ida Marie Papillon. Brothers-in-law Kenneth and Ronald Papillon. Sisters-in-law Pauline Gordon and Jacklyn Papillon and her infant brother Raymond.

On March 1, 2017 Sverre Margido Dreier Alvestad, a distinguished WWII Royal Norwegian Navy Veteran fought his last battle and joined his late beloved wife Thelma.

He leaves behind his daughters Carol and family, Karen (Tony), granddaughters Gabrielle (Nick) and Dominique, brothers and sister in Norway and many nieces and nephews.

Also joins dear late brothers Inge, Thor, Einar and parents.

Dorothy was a proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Beloved husband of Marion (Nielsen) for 43 wonderful years. Laszlo will be lovingly remembered by his children: Sarah, Margit, Catherine and their partners.

He will be greatly missed by his brother Gyorgy, as well as by Susi, Otto, Gina and their families. Laszlo’s zest for life and sunny disposition will be missed by all who knew him.

BOUSKILL, Mary Elizabeth 'Beth' (nee Wallace) - Beth passed away on Sunday February 26, 2017 at the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington.

She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary (nee Blair) Wallace and is survived by her sister, Cathy Graham.

Beth was a teacher who began her career working with kindergarten children and ended her teaching years working with students in grades 7 & 8. During these years, Beth also graduated from university with a BA and later a master's degree in political science. Her friends will remember that Beth always loved a good political discussion.


Ostric IvoOSTRIC, Ivica 'Ivo' - Born in Zagreb, Croatia, on June 21, 1942. A strong sense of adventure led our Dad to Canada in February 1968. On February 25th, 2017, in his 74th year, he began his new adventure.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he is deeply loved and missed by his wife Josephine, their children Ivan and Lara (Mike) and grandchildren Grayden, Lochlan and Knox.

He came to Canada from Portugal in 1957 to start a better life for his family. He struggled in a strange country under dire conditions for two years, saving enough money to bring his young family to join him. He was the backbone of a very close and loved family.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Silvina, and his adoring children Paula, Joyce, Fernando and Maria, and his sons-in-law Norberto and William and his daughter-in-law Rose.
