Gretchen passed away on Sunday, January 8th, 2017 at the Mountainview Residence in Georgetown, with her loving children at her side.

A charismatic woman in her 69th year, Gretchen was a beloved and proud mother to Amaranth (husband Jason) and Trevor, and an adoring grandmother to Scarlett, Isabella and Olivia.

John was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on March 1, 1930 to Rhoda Gladys and John Angus Stewart Sr.

He grew up in Grande Anse, Cape Breton and Halifax.

Soon after graduating from Dalhousie University in 1950 with a B.Sc., John came to Ontario. In 1966, he struck out on his own and opened Angus Employment Agency of Hamilton/Burlington.

Marriott LoisMARRIOTT, Lois Isobel (nee WILSON) - In Lois's 90th year, she passed away peacefully at Billings Court Manor in Burlington on Friday, January 6, 2017.

Lois was born on August 9, 1927, in Toronto, Ontario, daughter of John and Edythe Wilson. In 1949, Lois married the love of her life, the late Frank Marriott.

Upon their move to Burlington, Frank and Lois built Nelson Business Machines, where Lois worked as the Bookkeeper for more than 20 years.

In addition to raising three children, Lois was deeply involved with the arts, volunteering with the Art Gallery of Burlington and acting as a docent for the Art Gallery of Hamilton.

Patty was the loving wife and soulmate of Roy for over 43 years, and the very proud mother of Kimberly Catherine Payne, husband Timothy. She was the much-loved Nana of Samantha Grace and Connor William Payne.

Patty was a very active member of her community as an artist, teacher, instructor and mentor. She was a devout life member of Knox Presbyterian Church.

Ethel in her 104th year was the beloved wife of the late Norman Orr (1981) and loving mother of Alan Orr (Nyola).  

Ethel was the adoring “wee grandma” of David (Dianne), Ryan (Ashley) and Nathan Orr and great-grandma of Simon, Michelle and Charlotte.  

Ethel was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Susanah Hall, brothers Arnold, Jim and Gordon Hall and her sister and best friend Emily Wheeler.  


Christ DieterCHRIST, Dieter  -  81, of Oakville, ON, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 at Ian Anderson House after a battle with cancer.

Dieter was born in Berlin, Germany, on November 20, 1935, apprenticed as an auto mechanic and set sail for Canada in 1956.

He excelled at many jobs, but spent 32 years with Canada West Indies Molasses, first driving a tanker truck to retiring as the Plant Manager in Hamilton.


Madder MarionMADDER, Marion Marie – 95, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 at Credit Valley Hospital.

She was born March 25, 1921 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

Marion was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Predeceased by husband Ralph Maurice, she is survived by her son Gary and daughter Karen and their families.

It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to Mike who passed away Thursday January 5th, 2017 at Trillium hospital in Mississauga.

He is reunited with Alison, his wife of 48 years, in heaven after six months of being apart.

He is truly at peace now.

He was a dedicated father to his three children, Luke and Jason (Gabriela) Chin-Leung, and Michelle Medeiros (Paul). He was a proud “papa” of his four grandsons: Elias, Eric, Jonah and Lucian, and another grandchild on the way.
