Christ DieterCHRIST, Dieter  -  81, of Oakville, ON, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 at Ian Anderson House after a battle with cancer.

Dieter was born in Berlin, Germany, on November 20, 1935, apprenticed as an auto mechanic and set sail for Canada in 1956.

He excelled at many jobs, but spent 32 years with Canada West Indies Molasses, first driving a tanker truck to retiring as the Plant Manager in Hamilton.

 

Madder MarionMADDER, Marion Marie – 95, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 at Credit Valley Hospital.

She was born March 25, 1921 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

Marion was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Predeceased by husband Ralph Maurice, she is survived by her son Gary and daughter Karen and their families.

 

Chin Leung MichaelCHIN-LEUNG, Michael Alrick   - (January 17th, 1944- January 5th, 2017)

It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to Mike who passed away Thursday January 5th, 2017 at Trillium hospital in Mississauga.

He is reunited with Alison, his wife of 48 years, in heaven after six months of being apart.

He is truly at peace now.

He was a dedicated father to his three children, Luke and Jason (Gabriela) Chin-Leung, and Michelle Medeiros (Paul). He was a proud “papa” of his four grandsons: Elias, Eric, Jonah and Lucian, and another grandchild on the way.

She was predeceased by her parents Betty and Ernie Angellotti and is survived by her sister Roseanne Elliott (Basil) and her brother Paul Angellotti (Linda) and nephews Chris Elliott (Natalie) and Mark Elliott.

Marie brought joy, laughter and love into everyone’s life who she touched.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all the staff at West Oak Village who cared for Marie for the last four years; and to the staff past and present at Community Living Oakville who cared for Marie for so many years.

She will be immensely missed by her sons Michael and Patrick, her daughter Tina Marie, her son-in-law Doug and her grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Jessica and Kyle who adored their Nana deeply.

Predeceased by the love of his life, Maureen (2012), by his parents Bill and Rose, brothers Derek (Pauline), Barry (Anne), best friends Murray (Gladys) McCullum, Roger (Ellen) Hein.

Survived by his children, brother Brian (Marion) of England, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews in England and Windsor ON, cousins Bill and Bonnie Adams, Brenda Walker of Toronto ON.

 

McCaskie GaryMcCASKIE, Gary - Quietly on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington at the age of 63, Gary passed away holding hands with his loving wife, Kathleen.

Predeceased by his father, Walter. Dear son of Betty, brother of Penny (George), and uncle of Scott (Sam) and Tyler (Alex). Step Dad of Susanne, Paul and Jaclyn and proud grandad of Carleigh and K.C.

Gary was a longtime employee of Honeywell, and Johnson Controls in Burlington. His spare time was spent with classic cars and restoring them to their former glory… but then the grandchildren came along and the cars were left in the dust. He loved every precious moment with them.

Passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on January 3rd, 2017, in Milton, Ontario.

Much devoted husband for 59 years to Mary Kathleen. Beloved Father to his two sons Bob (Tish) and Doug (Mary Beth). Proud grandfather of Tiffany, Jenna, Austin and Ben.

Herb was a graduate of Bloor Collegiate and School of Physical and Health Care Education – University of Toronto. Herb was an outstanding runner – 2nd in the 1948 Junior Olympics 1 Mile Run, 4 time Canadian University Champion in the 3 Mile Run and Cross-country Runs. Herb was Captain of the Hall of Fame U of T Championship Track Team. He also played on the Intermediate U of T Hockey and Boxing teams.

Herb had a very devoted teaching career at George Harvey Vocational School and Thistletown Collegiate.

 

Heaven DorothyHEAVEN, Dorothy Anne (Bunker) - Passed away on January 3, 2017 at the age of 91.

Dorothy was an artist, a teacher, a historian and the heart of a family. She was accomplished at all of these, but she always considered her greatest achievement her family.

Born the only child of Thomas Henry Bunker and Dorothy Louis Bunker (Mellor), Dorothy, known to her friends as Dode, was raised on the shores of Lake Couchiching in Orillia, Ont. She started her artistic career early, hand painting photographs at a local studio, before the days of colour film.

 

Rickaby BerniceRICKABY, Bernice "Bunny"  - 1937 - 2017  On January 3, 2017, a little earlier than she wanted, Bunny Rickaby (nee Hodgins), of Oakville, Ontario left us peacefully with family at her side.

She was the beloved wife of Andy for over 58 years.

Loving mom to Dianne (Vic), Lynne (the late Mike) and Lesley (Lester). Cherished grandma Bunny to Ashley (Dave), Jamie (Adrian), Elizabeth, Chelsea, Mitchell and Jayne and great-grandmother to Noah, Ethan, Elliot and Darcy.

Bunny will be dearly missed by her family, her brother Burnell and her many, many friends.

With her impeccable manners, unmatched eye for detail and ability to entertain, Bunny was a consummate hostess.

 

Turner MaryTURNER, Mary Elizabeth (nee KERR)  - It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother and great- grandmother Mary Turner on January 3, 2017 at the age of 96.

Mary had lived all of her life in Halton and Peel Counties and was an active participant in the life of Brampton and area communities.

Mary lived a long and full life, she was especially proud of her memory for people, dates and events that had occurred throughout her lifetime in the Brampton and Norval area.

She was the last surviving and youngest daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth Kerr of Norval and was predeceased by her sister Edna and brothers Irwin and Aubrey.

As an immigrant to Canada in the early 1960's she worked hard to build a good life for herself and her children and by all accounts she succeeded.

She is survived by her best friend in life Stephen Stamp, her loving children Karen and her husband Joshua, Gorden and his wife Corina and Beverly Ann and her husband Daniel, her two grandchildren, Samantha and Ryan and her brothers and sisters Lindsay, Jane, Roy, Elizabeth and Jim.

Rosemarie immigrated to Montreal in 1957, where she started her new life as a Canadian.

Beloved wife of Joseph (Joe) of 65 years. Beloved mother of Les (Kathy), Wayne (Carolyn), Brian (Trudy), Scott (Darlene), Lisa (Steve) Woods, and Judy (Andrew) Cartwright. She will be sadly missed by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Pinney IvyPINNEY, Ivy Elizabeth - Passed away peacefully on January 1, 2017 in her 92nd year.

Ivy was born in Warwickshire, England and with her late husband Raymond, made Canada her home in 1955. Ivy was a longtime resident of Oakville, spending most of her working life as a registered nurse at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and later, active in various volunteer and horticultural organizations.

Above all, Ivy was a loving and devoted mother whose memory will be cherished by her daughter Janet (Art) and three sons John (Mary-deceased)(Val), Martin (Karen) and Trevor (Marie-Josee); four grandchildren: Sean, Suzanne, Nicholas and Jessica and six great-grandchildren: Joshua, Dylan, Parker, Cooper, Kian and Lachlan.
