Opavsky FrankOPAVSKY, Frank Martin - Passed away peacefully, at his home in Burlington, with family by his side on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of Mary (nee Boyko), with whom he spent many wonderful, happy years, Frank left this world on the morning of their 59th wedding anniversary.

They were blessed with five beautiful children. Frank was the dedicated, loving father of Anne, David, Joseph and Kathryn, and will be missed by daughter-in-law Pat Winslow (David) and son-in-law Peter Kirkpatrick (Kathryn). Cherished Papa of Madlyn and Liam, and Grandpa of Evan, Joseph and Kaleigh.  Predeceased by his infant son, Peter (1960).

 

DUFFY, Edward James - Peacefully on Wednesday October 5th, 2016 at Arbour Trails, Guelph. Edward, in his 85th year.

Beloved husband of Sarah "Sadie" (nee Etherson).  Loving father of Steve (Jocelyn) Duffy, Ann Boyd, Neil Duffy and Brian (Tracy) Duffy.  Proud grandfather of Joshua, Erin, Patrick, Thomas and Xavier and great-grandfather of Hunter, Carter and Harper. 

Dear brother of Susan, Margaret, Patricia and Thomas.  Predeceased by his brother Neil and sister Rosemary. 

 

Hague JohnHAGUE, John Arthur - On Wednesday October 5, 2016, after a brave battle with cancer, John Arthur Hague died peacefully at home with his family by his side.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Janet, daughters Kathryn and Rachel, granddaughter Ava, brother Andrew (Janice), niece Sarah (Maurizio) and nephew Rhys (Fran). Predeceased by his parents Glyn and Alma Hague, his nephew Neil, and by in-laws Jack and Winnie Thomas.

John was born on December 23, 1940 in Neath, Wales. He grew up in that area and then moved to Pembrokeshire, Wales with his wife and young family. In 1975, John followed career opportunities and emigrated to Canada with his family, living first in Come-By-Chance, Newfoundland and then settling in Oakville, Ontario. After a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry, John and Janet moved to Freelton to enjoy his retirement and the opportunities provided in the Antrim Glen community.

Beloved wife of Neville for 67 years. Loving and devoted mother of Sue and Margaret (Maggie). Cherished grandmother of Helen, Caroline, Chelsea and Ashton. Special great-grandmother of Harry and Millie.

Maria will be greatly missed by her extended family and friends here in Canada and her native Poland. Maria was an active member of the Polish community in Hamilton and Burlington since immigrating to Canada in 1951. She spent many summers in Barry's Bay (Kaszuby) cooking at the Polish scout camps.

A thoughtful and generous soul, she was a nurturer, mentor, friend to all, frequent practitioner of random acts of kindness, and fanatical Toronto Blue Jays supporter.

Survived by husband Frank, who adored her unconditionally throughout their years together. Beloved mother of Jennifer, Melissa, and Nicholas, within all of whom her light still shines.

Daughter-in-law of Gale and Marjan Misiurak of Oakville. Sister-in-law to April (Misiurak) and Brent Ottewill as well as Graham and Veronica Misiurak, all of Oakville. Beloved aunt to Hardy, Soleil, Avery, Kasey, Adam, Dresden and Xayvian. Leah will also be missed by her grandmother Stella Noyes of Athol, Massachusetts and her many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Leah was born in Augusta, Maine and raised in Chesterfield, Virginia, just outside of Richmond. Leah graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Art Education. Leah met the love of her life, Trevor, as a teenager while on vacation in Florida. They reconnected several years later and were married in a joyous occasion at Niagara Falls in September 2013.

Bland HenryBLAND, Henry John -  Passed away peacefully in Milton District Hospital on October 2, 2016 at 91. 

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anne, children Patricia, New Glasgow, NS; Geoffrey (Brigitte Cutler), Springfield, Illinois; Rosemary (Fabian Beaton), Milton, Ontario; Elizabeth (Paul MacInnis), Milton, Ontario; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Robert and daughter-in-law Hilda.

Born in London, England on July 9, 1925 he was orphaned at the age of 9 but, thanks to an inspired aunt, he won a full scholarship to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Bristol, where he was a boarder until he graduated in 1943. That same year he was admitted to hospital for six months, most of it spent in a body cast, and it was there that he met his future wife - the most tolerant nurse on his ward, a quality she retains to this day! 

He then went on to the University of Bristol where he completed his medical education in 1950, followed by post-graduate training in obstetrics and internal medicine. He was chief resident at hospitals in Bristol and Rochford prior to taking up general practice in Shoeburyness, Essex.

Beloved wife of the late Branko.  Loving mother of Dragan and his wife Vesna. Proud and devoted grandmother to Ivana and Luka. 

She is survived by her dear sister Svetlana and her husband Vladimir Mandic. She will be forever remembered by her niece Saska and by her nephew Buco, and their families.

Sanvila will be missed by her in-laws Sasha, Gordana and Zivan Knezev, her extended family and by many close friends.

Dale leaves behind a grieving family including siblings, Donald McKerracher (Dawn), Sandra McKerracher (Mark Sylvah), Lynne Beaudet (David), Mark Miller (Cathy), Bruce Miller (Gwen) and Rob Miller (Linda) and their families.

She is also survived by cousins, Bev Cameron (Jim), Brian MacDougall, Bruce MacDougall (Mary), Rodney Dobson (Lorraine) and her Uncle Ken McKerracher (Pat) and their families in Calgary, AB and the Los Angeles, Cal. area.

 

Huyskens HenryHUYSKENS, Hans 'Henry' - Passed away peacefully on October 2, 2016, in his 76th year, at the Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton with his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra by his side. 

He will be sadly missed by his children Nick (Sherry), Debora (Mike), Del (Garth) and John (Lisa) from his first marriage and Nicole (Luke), Marcus (Tamara) and Stephanie (Grayson), as well as grandchildren Amanda, Alycia, Kelly, Crista, Nico, Leilah, Izabela, Olivia and Hudson. He will be laid to rest beside his grandson Maximus.

Henry was a producer/director/cameraman/editor, an avid ham radio operator and a gifted musician and artist.
