Sadly missed by his cherished grandchildren Zachary and Joshua. Tasho leaves behind many relatives in Greece, Germany and Australia.

 

Chandra SatyavatiCHANDRA, Dr. Satyavati - Renowned physician-scientist and self-made woman, Dr. Satyavati Chandra, 84, passed away peacefully in sleep at home on January 10, 2018.

She was the proud mother of three children, Rashmi, Atul and Saurabh, son-in-law, Jonathan, daughter-in-law, Shalini, and grandchildren, Supriya and Aarye. She was dearly loved by many extended family members and friends living in India, Canada, and US.

Dr. Chandra was orphaned at an early age but had the fortitude to take a loan for attending medical school at King George Medical College, Lucknow, India, where she received her MBBS and MD degrees.

Beloved wife to Cesar "Ollie" and loving mother to Charlene.

Ruth was a lifelong resident of the Hamilton Beach Community and kept busy with her volunteer work. She loved her five pin bowling and attributed her long life to a beer a day.

Predeceased by her husband Matthew and her children Gerald, Glenn and Carolyn. Survived by her daughter-in-law Lise, ten grandchildren and their spouses, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Jim was a Captain of The Toronto Fire Department and served with them for 33 years.

Beloved husband of Mari for 46 years. Ron is survived by his sisters; Marlyn Blair (Ian), Wilma Duncan (John), Valerie Kirkwood, Pamela Kirkwood (John). He will be missed by his nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and god children.

Ron's engineering career spanned over 50 years, with the latter 33 spent at Dofasco as senior cranes and lifting equipment specialist. Many may remember him from the Canadian Masters at Heron Point, the Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, coaching ladies’ volleyball, mentoring junior achievement programs or as volunteer, greeter, starter and marshal at Hidden Lake Golf Club and Dragon’s Fire Golf Club.

Scobie MaureenSCOBIE, Maureen 'Mo' MargaretMaureen Scobie (nee Sutherland) passed away peacefully and comfortably under the excellent care of the Bethell House staff in Inglewood, Ontario, on Monday, January 8, 2018.

Maureen was born in Montreal in 1930 but grew up in Sydney, Nova Scotia with her younger sister, Joan. There she met her (late) husband Tom during her teenage years. After they married in 1953, they eventually settled in Mississauga where they raised their 3 children, Linda (Doug Soules), Marlene (Michael Schroeder) and Barbara (Rick May). 

In 1986 Maureen was determined to return "home" during retirement and initiated the move to Ingonish Beach, Cape Breton. Both she and Tom spent many enjoyable years active in the community and connecting with friends, old and new.
