Dietz GerhardDIETZ, Gerhard - Passed away peacefully with family by his side at The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington, on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the age of 85.

Loving husband of Elisabeth (nee Mueller) and cherished father of Christine Brown and Monica Proulx (Serge). Proud grandfather of Sarah Brown, Derek Proulx and André Proulx.

Gerry will also be missed by extended family and numerous friends.

 

Clark GloriaCLARK, Gloria - Passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 9, 2017 in her 90th year at Allendale Long Term Care, Milton.

Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Jim in 2009.

She will be forever missed by her daughters, Susanne Evans and Barbara Clark, her son-in-law, Dave Evans, granddaughters, Corrie Oliver and Jodi Oliver, and great- grandson, Jetsun Oliver Litster.

Predeceased by her parents, William and Ada Sheppard, her brother, Bill Sheppard and survived by her sister, Betty Sheppard.

 

Kuproski OlgaKUPROSKI, Olga (née Spakoski) - (April 29, 1914 - May 8, 2017) - Olga passed away peacefully at Idlewyld Manor on May 8, 2017 in her 104th year, surrounded by family.

Olga is predeceased by her husband Julian (1997)‎, infant daughter Mary (1950), as well as sisters Anastasia Masotti, Margaret Sobotka, Emily Kozell, and Anne Jacobs.

She will be greatly missed by daughter Julianna (Howard McIsaac) and son Ted (Lynda). Much loved Grammi to Nichole (Chris), Erin (Aaron), Caroline (Sunil), and Kathryn (David) and great grandma to Eleanor, Audrey, Nathan, Anna, and Penelope. She is survived by sister Joan Kling and several nieces and nephews.

 

Hughes DavidHUGHES, David Alan - (1945 - 2017) - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, (wife) Judi and children, Virginia and Robert on Monday, May 8th, 2017 at the Ian Anderson House.

He will be remembered for his love of motorcycles and loyalty to the Legion, Branch 114 Oakville.

Dave will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Devoted wife of the late Nicola Mationo (1978) and member of the Matone family. Loving Mother and Mother-in-law of Emerich and Marion Soos. Cherished Oma to Andrea and Elisha (Michael), and Great Oma to Evan and Elliot. Sister-in-law and Aunt to the Hickle family of Cleveland, Ohio. Lovingly embraced by the Ruskai family - Keti, Vladimir, Nicole (Edward), Alex and Otis.

Catharine made Hamilton her home after immigrating to Canada in 1956 after the Hungarian Revolution. She was a restaurateur, an avid volunteer for The Animal Welfare Association of Hamilton, St. Joseph’s and McMaster hospitals, and a proud recipient of the Hamilton Municipal Senior of the Year Award for 40 years of dedicated service to the community.

Ron was a third generation Journeyman Plumber and a proud member of UA Local 46 Toronto for 60 years. He enjoyed his retirement spending time at the cottage, fishing and watching the sunsets.

 

Jeffries JimJEFFERIES, James Edward 'Jim' - (October 27, 1946 - May 6, 2017) -

We lift up to God with gratitude for the life of Jim, beloved son of Dorothy and the late Arthur William Jefferies. He passed away at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital of complications from a fall.

Jim was an accomplished athlete and enjoyed playing guitar. He was a graduate of Oakville Trafalgar High School and was attending Ryerson when he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He worked at S.T.R.I.D.E. for 25 years before his retirement 5 years ago.

Jim was a gentle soul who was a dear companion to his mother after his Dad passed away and they shared a very special bond. His life had great consequences in Canada. He was the inspiration for his dad Bill along with Dorothy's support and care to create the Friends of Schizophrenics which became the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario and The Canadian Schizophrenia Society and the development of The World Schizophrenia Fellowship.

Devoted husband of Anita for 62 loving years. Dear father of Richard (Bisa), Judy (Graham), Janis (Jim), Robert (Lesley), David (Michelle), Brian (Shirley) and Gina (Ringo). Proud grandfather of Jason, Donnie, Brian, Jarod, Ryan, Katie, Andrew, Ben, Tyler, Dana, Kyle, Noah, Frank and Sarah. Great-grandfather of Jordan and Rylee.

Frank was a man of many accomplishments. His distinguished professional career began after 15 years of service in the Royal and Canadian Navy with many great service men and women whom he often recalled quite fondly to those who would listen. Dad progressed in the insurance industry as a boiler and pressure vessel expert assisting companies throughout the world in mitigating risk.

 

Shanks NoelSHANKS, Noel Charles - Peacefully on May 6, 2017 in hospital in Burlington, Ont.

Noel was born Christmas Day 1922 in Sharbot Lake, Ont. An RCAF veteran of the Second World War, Noel flew 29 missions as a rear gunner in an RAF Lancaster bomber, including over Normandy on D-Day. He met King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and the then Princess Elizabeth.

Upon his return to Canada, Noel met and married his wife, Eileen, with whom he worked for many years at Air Canada, with postings in Montreal, Florida and Trinidad.

Beloved husband of Constance Margaret (nee Lowrie) for 63 years.

Mom was born and raised in the Town of Mount Royal, Montreal and graduated from the Montreal General School of Nursing. Nursing was a lifelong passion and after a variety of careers in the field, she retired at 66.

He was born and raised in Montreal and later lived in Westport, CT and Carlisle and Oakville, ON.  He had a successful career in creative marketing in the package-goods industry and spent many years working with Imperial Tobacco.
