For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

BALLANTYNE, Harry Douglas “Doug” - Passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the age of 71.

Beloved husband of Carolyn for 51 years. Devoted father of Kathy Hardcastle (Lee), Patty McCready (Shawn) and Brian (Theresa). Cherished grandfather of Kristy, Danielle (Andrew), Dylan and Derek. He was expecting his first great-grandchild in March, 2018.

 

Petri ErhardtPETRI, Erhardt - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erhardt Petri on December 7, 2017 in his 82nd year. 

He passed away peacefully at home after a short illness.  Beloved husband of Ilse Petri, loved father of Sylvia (Greg) Dunk, Christine (George) Gondosch and Richard Petri.  Much loved Opa to Tyler and Anita Dunk and Holly and Adam Fischer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to St. John's Lutheran Church in Hamilton or Cancer Assistance Program of Hamilton be considered.

 

Tartaro TracyTARTARO, Tracy - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tracy, peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the age of 43.

Beloved wife and best friend of Steve. Cherished and proud mom of Nadia, Joey, and Daniella. Loving daughter of Brenda. Tracy is survived by her brother Ricky Heath and Amanda Heath.

She will always be loved by her mother-in-law Eugenia Tartaro, and sister-in-law Giovanna Anger and her husband Kevin. Tracy will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family in Italy and Canada and many friends.

 

Porcelli VictorPORCELLI, Victor - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Victor on December 7, 2017 at the age of 76. 

Beloved partner of Mary Miya and predeceased by his wife Judy.  Loving father of Tina Bucci (Ray) and Tracy Porcelli (Nathaniel).  Loving step-father of Sara Vanderstoep (Robert).  Cherished grampa of Jessica (Samuel), Rebecca (Georgie), Brandon, Tepairu, Kassidy, Caleb and Matthew.  Great-grampa of Maya Annabelle. 

 

McCONNELL, James Alex - Passed away at St. Peter's Hospital on Thursday December 7, 2017 in his 84th year. 

Jim is survived by Lil, his wife of 35 years.  He was predeceased by his 1st wife Isobel, his brother Ralph and beloved grand-daughter Nicole.  He leaves behind daughters Gail Paling and Lori McConnell, sons Tom (Noreen), Steve (Annie), Jimmy, and Robert (Nicole), and step-sons Dale Cassavetes (Kim) and Dan Cassavetes. 

Grandfather of Brandon (Michelle), Michael (Keturah), Cristene, Kelsey, Tommy, Lauren, Kevin, Race, EverLee and great grandchildren Isabella, Maddox, Cole, and Summer.  He also leaves behind sister-in-law Pat McConnell and her family. 

 

MacPherson MalcolmMacPHERSON, Malcolm Leith -  Born in Valleyfield, PEI May 14, 1948 and lived in Hamilton, Ontario til Dec 7, 2017

It is my time to say goodbye and will see you again. I am no Frank Sinatra but I did it my way! God gave me to my family and my pets til the age of 69. Family is our reason and being, I was fortunate to be surrounded and loved by all. 

 

Marranca AngeloMARRANCA, Angelo John - Peacefully with family by his side on December 6, 2017 in his 94th year.

Beloved husband to Eva for 70 years. Proud father to Tony (Joan), Janice, Dan (Philly) and Marla Piche (John). Prouder still of his grandchildren Julie (Jeff), Jillian, Sean, Kevin, Alisha and Nicole and great grandchildren Benjamin and Ryan.

Predeceased by his parents Rose and Salvatore. Dear brother to Lena Farrauto (the late Charles), Mary Woods (the late Tom), Carl Marranca (Colleen), the late Tina Farrauto (the late Jim) and the late Andrew Marranca (Mary). He will also be dearly missed by all his extended family and friends.

 

Weaver JanetWEAVER, Janet Nadine -  Suddenly, as the result of a tragic accident, on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.  Janet Weaver, wife of the late Ray Weaver (September 2017), in her 70th year. 

Beloved daughter of Doris and the late Faye (1996) Fess of Selkirk.  Loving mother of Joel Weaver of Sweet's Corners and Robin and Darren Bouman of Jarvis and proud Grammy of Katie and Jenni. 

Sister of Dawn (Ted) Swent, Vicky (Ernie) Touesnard and Christine (John) Lamb and sister-in-law of Carol, Brian and David and the late Albert (Spike) Weaver.   Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

 

Hutton ElizabethHUTTON, Elizabeth Houston Browning (nee Stewart) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Hutton in her 98th year.

Born June 28, 1920 in Paisley Scotland. Died December 6, 2017 in Hamilton Ontario.

Predeceased by husbands, Pilot Officer John Blair, John Joseph Hutton; infant son Tommy Blair and daughter Elizabeth Hutton.

Betty was the very proud mother of David Hutton (Monica) and William Hutton (Beverly). She leaves eight grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her sister Janette Stewart as well as her nieces and nephews in Hamilton and Lindsay.

 

Stevens GeorgeSTEVENS, George Edwin - George Edwin Stevens in his 71st year, passed away peacefully with his adoring family by his side after a short but very courageous battle with cancer.

George is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Sarah (Andrew) and son Mike (Jen). George was the proudest Papa to Logan, Carson and Miles.

George was a friend to many and was always willing to lend a hand or offer useful advice. "Scruffy" as he was known at the casinos, will be dearly missed by his mother-in-law Mary Kozar, sister-in-law Deb (Frank) and brother-in-law Rod (Brenda).

 

Kardos GeorgeKARDOS, George Sr. - It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of George on December 5th at the age of 84.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Gabriella (nee Siklos) of 55 years. His sons George (Hazel) and Gabrial (Anett). He was the loving grandfather to Adam and Anna.

Georges passion in life was being an avid scout leader for over 20 years.

VanHOEVELAAK, Antonie Gerrit - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Tony.

Much loved husband of Carolyn, father of Christine (Ryan) and Laura (Collin). Will be missed by grandchildren Kent, Chloe and Madeline of whom he was so proud. Survived by his parents Tom and Margaret and sisters Jo-Ann and Margi.

Tony was a math teacher with the Hamilton Board. His passion was Oldtimers hockey and he enjoyed golf and curling. He will be missed by many friends.

 

CASTLE-MILLS, Barbara Ann (Bobbie/Beanie) - Peacefully at her residence on Tuesday December 5, 2017, in her 64th year. 

Beloved wife of Glen Mills.  Loving mother of Shawn Leaman.  Cherished Grandma of Brayden.

FERREIRA, Manuel - Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Woodstock Hospital on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.  Manuel Ferreira, of Harley, in his 88th year.

Beloved Husband of the late Gloria (nee DaCosta) (2014). Loving Dad of Mary, Georgette and Christine. Manuel will be sadly missed by his family & friends in Portugal and Canada.

Manuel immigrated to Canada in the mid-1950s after learning the blacksmith trade from his father. He lived throughout Ontario working various jobs settling in Harley in 1971 working alongside his wife as tobacco farmers.

 

Harton JeanneHARTON, Jeanne (nee DENIS) - Died peacefully at the Heritage Green Nursing Home on Tues, Dec 5 at the age of 83. 

Loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Bertrand.  She will forever live in the hearts of her sons Daniel (wife Sandra), Donald (wife Trish) and Yvan (girlfriend JinSong) and her grandchildren Erik, Jesse, Amanda, Megan and Stephanie and great-grandchildren Luca and Logan.

 

RITCHIE, Marion - Peacefully at the John Noble Home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in her 92nd year. 

Marion, beloved wife of the late Arthur James Ritchie.  Loving mother of Brian (Anita) Ritchie, Stephen (Sylvie Bourbonnais) Ritchie, Sandee (Doug) Brown.
