It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary, at the Emmanuel House Hospice, in her 85th year, after a brief battle with cancer.

Predeceased by her dear husband of 58 years, Len. Will be greatly missed by her loving daughter, Lori Heaton and her beloved grandson, Mike Heaton.

Survived by her sister Carol Caverly, brother David Caverly (Anita), her special goddaughter Kelly Leonard (John), along with several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mabel Caverly, and by her brother, Ron Caverly.

 

PENNELL, Lillian - Passed away peacefully surrounded with her family's love on Monday, November 13, 2017 in her 88th year.

Loving wife and best friend of William "Bill" for 69 years. Cherished mother of Bill (Roseanne), Phyllis (Rob), Beth (Henry), Glenn (Lori), Jeff (Pauline), Joyce (Dave) and Lynn (Jason). Awesome gramma to 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Survived by siblings John, Pat, Jim and Linda. Predeceased by father Jack (Mae), mother Helen (Fred) and sisters Joyce and Judy.

 

Hagey nancyHAGEY, Nancy Carolyn (Cooke) - 74, of Brantford, Ontario, passed away on November 13, 2017 at the Brantford General Hospital, surrounded by family.

Funeral service will be held at Grace Anglican Church on November 17 at 11 A.M. Visitation will be held at Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home on November 16 from 2 P.M. till 4 P.M. and from 7 P.M. till 9 P.M.

Nancy was born in Brantford to Alec and Edna (Day) Cooke on June 30, 1943. She went to high school at Brantford Collegiate Institute. Nancy went on to earn a certificate from the Brantford Business College. She worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Robert Farley, and for many years as an elementary school secretary for the Brant County Board of Education at South Ward School and Queen's Ward School in Paris and Greenbriar Public School in Brantford.

 

Wilson JoyceWILSON, Joyce - Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Brantford General Hospital on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in her 77th year. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Isabel Limin (Smith), her sister Morleyn and her brother Jim. Beloved wife of Alistair (Al) Wilson for 47 years.  Beloved mother of Brian (Heather), Alan (Christine), and Eric (Jennifer).  Joyce considered her 7 grandchildren a true blessing; Ryleigh, Brandon, Graeme, Megan, Camryn, Abbey, and Jovie. 

She is survived by her brothers Bob and Bill, and her sister Donna (McColl). 

 

Pizzey DonnaPIZZEY, Donna (Ovington) - Surrounded by the love of her family, Donna Ruth Pizzey (nee Ovington), 70 years, after a 19 year battle with Alzheimers, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Woodstock Hospital. 

Loving wife of her devoted husband Bob for over 51 years.  Cherished mother of Bob & Stacey of Clarkston, Michigan and Dave & Lisa of London; grandmother of Bobby & Allie, Bradley, Kirstyn & Kyle. 

Beloved daughter of Mary & the late Raymond (1985) Ovington and daughter-in-law of the late Bob & Mable Pizzey.  Dear sister of Betty (Bob) Robertson, Bill, Ray, Pat (Valerie) and sister-in-law of Joe (Diane) Pizzey & Cam (Sherry) Pizzey.  Donna will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Beloved wife of Larry Sandell for 35 years. Maxine will be sadly missed by her many family and friends.

 

Bacher JoanBACHER, Joan Marilyn nee:  Nagel - Called home to be with her Lord & Saviour, Joan passed away at home on Sunday November 12, 2017 at the age of 71 years.

Beloved wife of 48 years to John Bacher. Loving mother of  Dr. Jennifer Thompson (Drew), and Jeff Bacher. Dear grandmother of Cassidy, Caitlyn, and Sydney. Daughter of the late Ross & Lorna (Winger) Nagel. Sister of Bruce, Jay (Penny), Lee, and Ron (Betty). Joan will also be remembered by her nieces and nephews, Tracy (Vince), Jason (Jana), Amy (Joe), and Melissa and their families.

Joan taught elementary school for several years and then stayed home to raise her family and help her husband operate their dairy farm. At that time she was a 4-H Leader and was very active in many organizations with her church including Sunday School, Ladies Aid and LWML.

 

WALKER, Darlene - Sad to announce the passing away of Darlene Walker, with her husband Jeff by her side on Sunday, November 12, 2017.

ELLWANGER, Hedwig - After a long and well-lived life, our beloved Hedi passed away peacefully at Parkview Nursing Centre at the age of 101.

Predeceased by her husband Theobald in 1987, and brother-in-law Otto in 2015.

She leaves behind to mourn her son Ted (Linda), daughter Dorothy McDermott of Victoria, B.C., and her sister Antonie Bechtle of Munich, and other extended family members in Germany. Loving grandmother of Richard (Adam and Jade) and Kristina Fernandes (Zachary).

Formerly from Hamilton Ontario, Frances was pre-deceased by her husband Bernard.  Frances  was dearly loved and will be missed by her children, Brenda (Sawchuk), Karen (Malier),  Stephen, Allan, David, Lorraine (Thomson) and Maureen ( Moore).

LOVELADY, Frances Pauline - It is with great sadness that the family of Frances Pauline Lovelady announces her passing in the early hours of Friday November 10, 2017, at the age of 94 years.

Fran will be lovingly remembered by her four children Brian (Kathryn), Richard (Elinor), Elaine Grande (Manuel) and Joanne Bertrand.  Fran will also be fondly remembered by her six grandchildren, Holly, Amanda, Kelly, Briana, Roger, Anjeni, great-grandchildren Cole, Conner, Emma and by her sister Anita Budge. Fran was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Lovelady.

 

WELLS, David Austin - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dave, at Juravinski Hospital, on Friday, November 10, 2017.

Loving father of Karen Sanidas (Jim) and loyal grandfather of Austin and Christos. He will be missed by his little brother Robert Wells (Amanda), niece and nephew Olivia and Mac.

Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Williams (1999).  Cherished mother of Peggy (Pierre), Barbara (Stephen) and John (Connie).  Proud Grandma Nancy to Sarah and Myriam, Kathryn and Liz.  Predeceased by her brothers John and David.  She will be sadly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. 

Born in Ottawa on August 14, 1927, she was a graduate of Queen's University in 1950.  She was passionate about Canadian History, Politics, Choral Music, and family get-togethers. Nancy received great joy and spiritual inspiration from her dedication to the Ryerson Church community. 

 

STECHYSHYN, Amelia (nee Krytovich) -  Passed away peacefully at Baywoods Place, Hamilton Ontario on November 10, 2017 in her 96th year.

Predeceased by her husband Walter, her son Richard of Hamilton and her sister Jean of Vancouver. Lovingly remembered by her son Walter Nicholas Stechyshyn and his wife Milda of Chatham, her grandchildren Audra Nagasawa of Ottawa, and Amber Stechyshyn of Toronto, great grandchildren Kaeda and Emiko of Ottawa, and niece Tracey Hutchinson of Vancouver.

 

Vallis EdwardVALLIS, Edward - On November 9, 2017 Edward John Vallis "Ted" passed away at Macassa Lodge after a lengthy illness in his 80th year.

Dear husband and father of Dianne and daughters Cheryl (Rob) Wessel and Tammy (Chris) McMillan. Dear grandfather of Katherine and Amanda Wessel and Cameron and Chloe McMillan.

Retired from the Hamilton Wentworth Police Department Summons Division. He was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite.

We wish to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Macassa Lodge and all the Doctor's that have cared for Ted over the last years for all their help.

 

Beimers HarryBEIMERS, Harry (Harke) - Peacefully, The Lord called Harry Home, from Gardenview LTC, Townsend on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the age of 94 years. 

Beloved husband of Ida (nee Van Dyk) for almost 60 years.  Dear Dad of Ingrid Kapteyn (Peter) of  Calgary,  Ed of Vars, Helen Beimers-Templeton (Randall) of Waterloo, Renee Beimers Hardie of Kitchener, Michael (Yvonne) of Aurora, and Bert (Lin) of Vars. Loving Pake of 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. 

Brother of Bert, and Andrew (Johanna) both of BC and the late Jan, Klaas, Bill, Ray, Gary and John. 

Harry was born in the Netherlands in 1923 and immigrated to Canada in 1951 where he was a dairy farmer in the Ottawa area.  Harry also served the Dutch Army in Indonesia for three years. 

 

COPE, John Leonard - John was a proud veteran of World War II. He passed away peacefully, at Juravinski Hospital, on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the age of 92.

Much loved father of Michael (Linda), Sharon (Maurice), Terry, Linda (Craig) and Loralynn (Stephen). Cherished grandfather of many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be lovingly missed by his beloved wife June Honsinger and her family. Dear brother of Arthur, Helen, Lorraine and their families.

 

Keiffer JoanKIEFFER, Joan Marie (nee Fortney)  -  Passed away from CHF on November 9, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Medical Centre (Guelph), in her 70th year.

She is survived by her 3 children Lynda Kieffer, Michael Kieffer, Michelle and her favourite son-in-law Jeff Barnard. Grandmother of Alannah, John, Kirsten-Leigh, and Brody. Her husband Rodger Kieffer predeceased her in November 1996.

She will be sadly missed by all of her brothers and sisters, brothers and sisters-in law, and nieces and nephews.

She worked for the Canada Revenue Agency for 27 years before retiring and loved to spend time with her kids and grandchildren.

DION, Dorothy May - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness, the family of Dorothy announces her passing on November 8, 2017 at the age of 87.

She lost her long fought battle to cancer at the Juravinski Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Roger Dion. Loving mother to Paulette Carmichael (Robert), Lorraine Laurie (Ted), Carol Irons (John), Bernadette Gallant (Gordon), Michelle Cummings (Darren), and Rachelle Dion.
