Majstorovic JosipMAJSTOROVIC, Josip (Joe) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on October 8th, 2016 at the age of 74.

Married for 48 years to his loving and devoted wife Mary (Marica nee Herjavec). Adored Tata of daughters Maryanne Saric (Damir) and Kathy Cubelic (Dane) and son, John. Cherished Dede to his seven grandchildren Ivan, Adriana, Daniela, Angelina, Nikolina, Steven and Ilija.

Josip will be dearly missed by his only brother Ivan Majstorovic (the late Katica), cousin Zlata Bajdl, sisters-in-law Anica Malezija (the late Zdravko) and Zlata Herjavec, along with their families, all of Croatia. Sister-in-law Dragica Herjavec (the late Stjepan) and family of Niagara Falls.

He will also be fondly remembered by many other relatives, kumovi and friends in both Canada and Croatia.

Josip was born in Draganici, Croatia to Mijo and Katarina Majstorovic (both deceased). He immigrated to Canada in 1966, with a single suitcase and a dream. Once settled he brought over his sweetheart, Marica, and they married in 1968 in Toronto. Soon after they welcomed three beautiful children all while working day and night to realize their dream of owning their own business.

In 1978 they purchased their first hotel and went on to own multiple successful businesses over the next 40 years before he finally retired in 2007. Josip was very proud of his adopted country, but he never forgot his beloved homeland.

He was an active member of the Croatian community and served proudly in multiple positions, including currently being the President of the H.D.Z. organization for many years. He will be sadly missed by his fellow members and friends.

Josip was a dedicated and caring husband and together he and Marica celebrated their successes while supporting each other through the difficult times. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He was a gentle soul with a huge heart and had a contagious smile that brightened every room. He had a unique sense of humour that brought laughter into our lives. He was the head of our family and his legacy will live on through us and we will carry forever his lessons on life, love and the value of family.

Visitation will be held at Markey Dermody Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 12th, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm with Vigil prayers at 7:30pm.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East, on Thursday, October 13th, 2016 at 9:30am. Interment at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice.

"Always so good, unselfish and kind. Few on this earth his equal we find."
We will love and miss you forever.
