McCafferty ChicMcCAFFERTY, Charles 'Chic' - Peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on February 10, 2017 in his 84th year.

Loving and devoted husband of Jean. Beloved father of Chris, Michelle, Karen and Matt. Cherished Granpa to his 5 grandsons Connor, Brendan, Sean, Dylan and Martin.

Chic was truly a great man, respected and loved by everyone he met. His quiet strength, his abiding kindness, and his unwavering love of family made him a class act and a role model for many. Chic was a true gentleman by anyone's standard and he has left an indelible mark on all who knew and loved him.

Chic was a member of the Hamilton YMCA for over 60 years and continued to be active in the "Y" even when his health became a challenge. He loved being an athlete and had a quiet tenacity that far exceeded any limitations his health could have imposed - we called him a gentle warrior.

For many years Chic enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of his fellow members of the Hamilton Tartan Club. The trips, the dances and the wee singalongs created many great stories and a cherished fabric of memories. Chic was also a member of the Hamilton Bridge Club and often played at Sackville Senior's Centre.

A funeral mass will take place at Annunciation of Our Lord Parish, 280 Limeridge Rd. W., Hamilton on Wednesday, February 15th at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. A reception will follow the mass at Michelangelo Banquet Centre, 1555 Upper Ottawa St.

For many years Chic participated in the YMCA Cycle for Kids event to support their "Strong Kids Campaign" and last year was the highest fundraiser at the Les Chater YMCA. In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate your consideration of a donation in Chic's memory to the Hamilton YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
