SZOKE, Barbara Jean - Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital, on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in her 88th year, Barbara Szoke, beloved wife of the late Les Szoke (2014). 

Loving mother of Christopher (Cindy) Szoke, Victoria (Werner) Weiss, Gary (Margaret) Szoke. Loving daughter of the late Isaac and Madeline Lundy. Dear sister of the late Jack Lundy and Norma Gardiner. Survived by sister-in-law, Eva Priddle. 

Much loved grandmother of Jody (Michael), Sally (Jeremy), Nathan, Jordan, Jennika (Brian), Jamie, Daniel (Bianca) and great-grandmother of Storm, Jacob, Joseph, Isabella, Madeline, Arianna, and Joey.

Barbara was a Bell girl till she married Les, whom she met at the Alfred Street roller rink.  Then there were family poker nights, weekends camping at Long Point and as many bingo nights as possible.  She loved listening to music, reading mystery novels, and working in her gardens alongside her well-fed hummingbirds.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Brantford General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit for their compassionate care.

Family and friends will be received to pay their respects at the McCleister Funeral Home on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 133 Murray St., Brantford on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.  Interment. 

If wished, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Stedman Community Hospice gratefully appreciated.
