Cupido MarioCUPIDO, Mario - Suddenly and peacefully on Wednesday, March 8th, Mario was called to the Lord to join his beloved wife Ann (nee Daly).

Loving father of Chris (Anne), Carolyn (Greg Spadoni), Cynthia (David Lamont) and Colleen (Jeff Toole). Adored Nonni of Joey, Kyran, Katie, Hayden, Nathan, Liam, Patrick, Annie, Tyler, Grace and Christopher.

Mario will be sadly missed by his brothers Charles (Wilda) and Richard (Anita), sister Pamela, sisters-in-law Sylvia, Helen, Leonora, Marion and Marjorie (Bill) and brother-in-law John Frances. Predeceased by his brother Ron, his sister Anna, his brothers-in-law Paul, Angelo, Charlie and Tony and sisters-in-law Madelyn and Mary. Mario was a devoted uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A committed father and grandfather, Mario lived his life as an example of unconditional love. His work ethic, patience, kindness and generosity were felt daily.

Professionally, Mario was a member of the Realty Associations of Hamilton/Burlington, Ontario, and Canada since 1959. He served in a number of capacities ranging from Director, Vice-President, and President and was awarded Honorary Life Membership in the Hamilton/Burlington Realtors Association.

Remarkably, at 85 years of age, Mario still remained an active and respected member of the Hamilton business community.

Mario was a passionate volunteer, particularly in serving the underprivileged, sport, health care and education sectors. Mario was a long standing member of the Board of Directors of the Hamilton Good Shepherd Centre, an Honorary Life Member of the YMCA, an Honorary Life Member of the CYO, a member of the Board of Directors of St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation and an elected Trustee of the Hamilton Wentworth Roman Catholic Separate School Board.

Mario was inducted to the Hamilton Sport Hall of Fame as the Owner and Director of the Canadian Memorial Cup Hockey Champions, the Hamilton Fincups.

In recognition of Mario’s contribution to the community and Canada, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the St. Joseph’s Health Care Legacy Award. In 2013, Mario was thrilled to receive an Honourary Doctor of Laws Degree from McMaster University.

Above all of Mario’s life accomplishments, what was most important to him was his faith, family and friends. Mario made everyone feel special in his presence and he was always happy.

Mario was a role mode, mentor, and a perfect father in every sense of the word.

Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home “William J. Markey Chapel” on Saturday and Sunday March 11 and 12th from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will be said on Sunday evening at 6:30 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Margaret Mary Parish, 20 Idlewood Ave, on Monday March 13 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Foundation or St. Margaret Mary Parish would be appreciated by the family.

Thank you Dad for everything. We love you. We will carry on your legacy.
