Wachnuk PeterWACHNUK, Peter - After a long life well lived at the age of 94, Peter has entered into eternal rest and has joined his devoted wife Elsie (2013) and his loving daughter Debbie (2000), on March 14, 2017.

Peter was also predeceased by his parents Sandy and Polly Wachnuk and his ten siblings.

Survived by his daughter Diannia and her husband Tony Shepherd. Grandpa will be missed by grandsons Mark (Gail) Dennis, Mike Dennis and Randy Dennis. He was great-grandpa to Allie, Katie, Mitch, Brandon and Megan.

As sad as the family is to see this day come, we know that he is at peace. Peter was always so independent and these past few years were difficult as his body started to fail and he was aware of all those things he couldn't do any longer.

Peter started out on the farm in Inglis, Manitoba where he was born on August 17, 1922. When he was 24, he moved with his wife and baby daughter to Timmins and worked in the gold mines for two years, but his oldest brother didn't like him working there so he took him to Hamilton where he had a 36 year career with Dofasco.

Peter was very active most of his life. He was a proud member of the Dofasco choir, a long-time member and past president of the Romanian Church and church choir conductor, a volunteer with the Frontiersmen, and an avid Hamilton Tiger Cat football fan.

Peter had been retired for 33 years... almost as long as he worked! Not many are fortunate enough to say that.

He enjoyed friendship, weekly card games and wonderful vacations with the other Dofasco retirees. He saw places a young farm boy never imagined he would ever see. Together, Dad and Mom saw Hawaii, Spain, Portugal, Alaska, Greece, the Panama Canal and many other wonderful destinations.

The photos of them showed how truly happy they were to be able to enjoy these things together. Dad said it was time to go... we know he was ready.

Please join us for visitation at Friscolanti Funeral Home, Hamilton on Thursday, March 16th from 6 - 9 p.m. Panachyda on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Funeral Service to take place on Friday, March 17th at Holy Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Church at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow.

Rest in Peace Dad... you will remain in the hearts of our family forever.
