Giddens PhyllisGIDDENS, Phyllis Marion - With sadness, tinged with joy and relief, the family announces the passing of Phyllis Marion (Smith) Giddens on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in her 90th year.

After a 12 year battle with the horrors and humiliations of Alzheimer's Disease, Phyllis is finally at peace.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Elizabeth (Allan), John and Bill (Cheryl) and her treasured grandchildren Natalie (Kyle) and Jamie (Ashley) Hayes and Will and Connor Giddens. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband John (2000) and parents Mildred and Percy Smith and siblings Millie, Norine, Perce and Eileen and her almost-sister Joyce Cummings.

Phyllis was born and raised in Brantford  and then moved with her new husband to Steeltown.

Thankfully she was welcomed with open arms by the parishes of St. Mark's and St. John's Anglican churches. She lived on Herkimer Street for 55 years and was a fixture in the Locke and Dundurn neighbourhood.  She forged many lifelong friendships with the kindest neighbours you could hope for.

Her health challenges took her to King West Medical Associates, St. Joseph's Hospital, MUMC, Aberdeen Gardens, First Place, The Willowgrove and finally Wentworth Lodge.  We offer our sincere appreciation to the many professionals who tended to her needs with care and compassion along the way.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to the ever-faithful Rejeanne and Wendy.

Visitation will take place at the Marlatt Funeral Home, Hamilton on Sunday, July 16th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held at The Church of St. John the Evangelist, 320 Charlton Avenue West, Hamilton on Monday, July 17, 2017  at 11 a.m.  Reception to follow at Aberdeen Gardens.  Interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Church of St. John the Evangelist would be appreciated by the family.
