THOMAS, David G. - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Glyn Thomas on August 5, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in his 80th year.

David was a loving and dedicated husband and father to his wife Claire, his children Theresa, David (Maria), Susan (Steve) and stepfather of Victoria (Robert), and Stephen. Dear grandpa of 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Dear brother of Alan Thomas and Christine Fitzpatrick (Gene). Survived by many nieces and nephews.

After receiving a liver transplant, David had a second take on life. He was a dedicated “AA” member whose generous spirit was helping people, driving them to meetings, humble, giving and showing an enormous amount of kindness.

He will be lovingly remembered for his love of his dogs, fishing, and spending time at the cottage. He enjoyed the Detroit Tigers, Hamilton Football and the Boston Bruins.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody funeral home, 796 Upper Gage Ave., Hamilton on Thursday, August 10th from 2-4 & 7-9pm.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, August 11th at 10am. Burial to take place at Mount Hamilton Cemetery.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses in the 4th Floor Tower of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their special care and compassion shown to David during his stay.
